Someone with actual law enforcement background would probably know much better than me, but just anecdotally based on videos of thefts, most of these thieves look like skinny meth'd up versions of "script kiddies" that called themselves hackers. They learn a procedure, stick to a script, try it and if it doesn't work... I expect most won't have a clue what to do next, except run/abort.
I could be wrong, but, I think a few simple deterrents is all it would take to thwart most attempts, and we're overthinking how smart or how determined most of these thieves really are, esp when the clock is ticking while they are red handed. Logically, introducing two faults into any system makes it *much* more complicated to troubleshoot. So, say a simple dummy OBDII port and relay or Soler controller... should be enough to discourage more than a extra minute or two of effort. |

anyone have a suggestion on a dummy obdii port? I was looking to plug into the factory one but have it pretend that it is live, but not transmit info.
Or maybe I will just use an extension obdii port cable, and run the cable under the dash making it look like it is factory.

A video from YouTube on an Igla security device was posted here https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showp...6&postcount=60.
https://iglaus.com/igla-alarm/ https://youtu.be/LRCChbmbCjc It looks like a very sophisticated solution. It even allows remote start to work. Probably pricey though.

IGLA is around $1200
The issue I see with it is it could be a hinderance if you drive your car often, with the whole pin entry each time.

My car is garaged and we live in a decent neighborhood, but if someone really wanted the car, they could get in and steal it.
For at home, I bought this faraday box to set by the door, so all of our key fobs can be dropped in there when we get home: On Amazon Faraday pouch for walking around areas where the fob could be boosted or cloned: On Amazon And for when I am staying at a hotel, for track days or other stuff, I'll be using the above key fob bag in addition to this "club" that is a modified version to make it harder for a thief to hack saw the wheel and pop off it off: On Amazon Fingers crossed! |

This is a cool looking solution, it will also work on the OBD2 port
