I had a 2016 Z06 3lz vert just traded in on a 2019 zl1 vert. I tracked the Z06 and had 22k miles on it. I never really like the steering feel even in track mode. So far I like the ZL1 feel. The A10 make it feel faster I know it is not. I would not say the vett was a better car just different. I will say all the money I spent on the 3lz compared to a zl1 was wasted and did nothing when I traded it in lost my ass.

The Manual 7 speed Z06 doesn’t come close to the A10 ZL1 but is quicker than the M6 ZL1. The A8 Z06 definitely is quicker than the A10 ZL1 up to around 130 but after that the ZL1 is as good / maybe better judging by trap speeds I’ve seen on the front and back straights at VIR. This is mostly because of the drag of the Vette (especially the 3LZ’s) and obviously rolling between 50 (exiting Oak Tree) and over 100 (exiting Hog Pen). The Z06 is still the King in regards to grip and overall lap time, but I have been impressed with how quick the A10 ZL1’s are in a straight line and how well they do for a heavier car.

The Z06 is lighter and more aerodynamic, but per MT the ZL1 has a better chassis able to handle better all that power of the SC engine. They consider the Z06 to be very twitchy with the feeling that very easily you could lose traction go sideways and hit something, they even mentioned this car could easily kill you if you lose control (white knuckles while driving it) and the ZL1 is very well
controlled, and it doesn't have the overheating issues of the Z06. The A10 and Manual 6 speed transmissions are superior compared to the problematic A8 transmission of the Corvette or the tendency of missing shifts of the M7 speed transmission. On my book is sufficient to mention that the best driver's car would be the Zl1. Amazing car! On the exterior and interior design, the Corvette looks much better than the Camaro, but the low entry and exit seating position is not accessible for all.

Interesting thread about differences between the two cars but, mostly about which is quicker. I will just add for the $$$, the ZL1 while only being maybe 1 second slower in the 1320, is a bargain for thousands less.

Guys if you go to You Tube search VIR ZL1 / Z06 uploads in the last month you will see a couple of ZL1 A10’s, several C7 Z06’s (M7) and at least 2 ZL1 1LE’s. I’m not trying to upset anybody but the A10 is between 4-6 mph faster on every straightaway on that track and that’s not just terminal speed. I realize the ZLE is going to have more drag than a standard ZL1, but pause the video at the end of pit wall on the back straightaway coming out of Oak Tree or at the start/finish line and look at the difference. This is usually with the Z06’s and ZLE’s having an advantage back to WOT earlier. The ZLE has a 3.91 I believe vs a 3.73 (M6) so that should help some to overcome some drag at lower speeds and give somewhat of a comparison of an A10 vs M6 with a roll start. The Z06 and ZLE are definitely more potent track weapons. I’m not implying a regular ZL1 even with an A10 is in the same league but as far as acceleration and terminal speed there’s a noticeable gap.
