L.A. shops that take out Cats
Just took my Fiesta ST and the Camaro to a muffler shop to get the secondary cat delete and told them over the phone that it was a resonator delete and once they understood that they were cats straight up refused to do it and only worked on the Fiestaa. I know a ton of guys have headers in L.A. but I can't find any shops that will touch my cats. Anybody with experience would be appreciated. They said they would do track cars only with it on a trailer and no tags haha

Fines can run as high as 100K for the removal of emission control equipment. I am sure they are out there somewhere, but the response you received was typical.

Could you take off your tags and flatbed it to the shop?

They install themselves, or they personally know someone who works at a shop.
Once they're on, you're usually fine - until you have to smog the car after something like 6 years.

Hit up alameda near hp.... I'm sure there's a spot there that will chop that off for cheap and not ask any questions about it.

I know of two other spots in Pomona, but that might be a bit of a drive for you.

You're asking people on a message board regarding illegal activity, I don't see how moderators even let this thread stay open.

In a town like L.A., I would imagine that somewhere, probably in some corner of some seedy part of town, there is some guy that is a true guru of exhaust pipes, that loves old school hot rodding, and respects dead presidents more than EPA, that will do it after hours for you.
The only way to find this guy is through the grapevine, and you probably have to be introduced by someone that has had his work done before. The shop will be a mess, the guys working there will be rough and gruff, and the whole time you will be wondering if they are hacks that are going to just steal your money, or what your odds are of getting out of that part of town alive. But you're not going to find him on the internet, and he certainly won't tell you over the phone, if he even answers the phone. I can only imaging the repercussions for getting caught doing this in California, it can be tough enough to get it done in states that don't even test for emissions. |

Since you live in CA and the secondary cats are on these cars because of CA and the CARB act I can see why none of the shops wont remove them. As mentioned the fine to the shop is really high and the owner is susceptible for a fine as well if cause by the CARB people.
