I'm planning on it, right now. Depending on price of course... I hope out the door I'm looking at $47.5k-$48k for A8 / NPP / MRC, but if it's closer to $50k-$51k out the door, I'll probably look very, very hard at 1-2 year old C7's.

There is an unequal amount of good and bad in most things, the trick is to work out the ratio and act accordingly.

Yeah if your talking out the door meaning taxes included you will be looking at over $51k for a 2SS vert with auto, MRC and NPP.

My 2013 had a sticker just under $48000, but there was a huge price increase between coupe and vert. I heard the gap won't be as bad, so my guess the 2016 I'm looking at will have a sticker of $49900. The only option I will get over what I have is the Magride. But I also don't have the RS extra which is on mine. So if it comes under $50000 I will be happy.

I'm planning on one but it depends on the dollars. Wanting A8, NPP, MRC. If the extra for the convertible is too much, I don't have a major problem getting the coupe.

I'm looking at a Red Hot+Kalahari+Vert+8A+NPP+MRC for either 2016 or 2017. I usually avoid 1st year runs (from my experience with bimmers). Decision will also depend on price.

My guess will be a 2SS convertible will be pushing $55,000..........sticker.

Today, without any special editions or wheel packages, the convertible is $48,000. They've added a few grand already for the 1SS and the convertible has added a much more expensive (and much nicer) roof system with power tonneau. So low $50,000 is very much in play.

For me, I need to see if you can get golf clubs in the trunk with the top down. Otherwise it's a no go.

But I am intrigued by the Gen6 convertible. It's more upscale for sure.

If this is true, what are the chances that people jump ship and move to Stingray's? I mean, all the coupe's have the removable targa, and at $55k I can find quite a few 2014-2015 Z51's for sale, all with less than 10k miles. Now I know buying used can be a crap shoot, but a 1-2 year old car still under warranty... and I'd consider it quite an upgrade overall.

I'm torn, I was really set on the 2SS 'vert, but feel I'd be doing myself a disservice by not looking hard at the C7. I don't have kids at home (anymore) and it would just be for me, and Wifey when we go out together, so I'm not worried about it being just a 2 seater. I think that folks in more of my age (45) group and older would feel the same... maybe?

Am I alone in this?

No you aren't alone. For me, if the price of a convertible 2SS went over 50k, I'd be considering a Corvette. But keep in mind the equivalent to a 2SS in content would run you $65,000 for the Corvette (without checking pricing). But just the same, the question will get asked by some.

And I'm sure GM has also considered that as well so I imagine the pricing will be held to keep that from happening too often. But it will happen.

Right.

For stuff like the HUD, I don't care about, and MRC I think I could live without on a C7... as the Z51 suspension is improved already. Not sure I'd miss the PTM, as I'm not a track guy. I just want a V8 sports/muscle/pony car. I've been looking specifically at 2015 A8 Z51 1LT's right now, and they seem to be sitting around $55-60k. So if a 2SS 'vert A8 MRC NPP stickers at say, $52.5, with USAA and supplier pricing... I'm still maybe looking at sub-$50k selling price. Is $5k more worth getting a slightly used C7...

Personally for me, until performance numbers come out, the answer to that question is "not sure, yet". I'm just glad I'm not alone in this.
