First Post: Talk me out of this!!
This is my first post in this forum, and I immediately present a dilemma.
Background: Totally Chevrolet. My dad has a 69 SS big block car that he has owned since he graduated from high school. I have had the following f-bodies: 98 RS, 96 Z28, 99 Z28, 01 Arctic White Procharged SS (God I miss this car!!), 02 35th LE SS, and most recently a Sebring silver 99 SS. I'm really a horsepower guy, and for the first time in my life, I'm considering buying a MUSTANG! I just sold my 99 SS and I plan on putting the money down on a car. The 2010 GT500 is amazing- Grabber Blue with white stripes Just can't get over it being a Mustang. Convince me why I should purchase a SS for only 6-7k less. I would buy a used C6 Z06 for the same money, but I have kids that really love riding in my cars. Gotta have a back seat. I really need some outside opinions/influence. My circle of friends/family have me really turned around right now. |

Go with your gut, why try to convince you to get something you want less?

You could Probably use that 6-7k to mod your Camaro
Hey its Up to you To what you want. Just for a note There are Some( not many) close minded people here I have not owned a Mustang but I have Heard the Solid rear axle is very bad for public roads, Irs is good for everyday driving your on a camaro site what response do you think your gonna get?

Hmm, for the price difference between the GT500 and a Camaro SS, you could just add something like this to the Camaro: Link
Obviously you are already aware of the power of superchargers so why not get a Camaro and all the style that comes with it plus still be able to surprise a GT500 with your mere 426hp*. *=advertised HP may be slightly under-rated under ideal airflow conditions. |

save the 7K and use it for mods. It will be out performing the Shelby very easily with that amount of money invested.
Check the Mod threads in my sig for an idea on prices an types of mods already available. |

I think I'm just dissapointed in Chevrolet for not following through with a Z28 model. I guess I'm kind of rebelling b/c of that.
**Disclaimer** Definately not bashing GM or trying to get my thread deleted b/c of Z28 talk. |

Judging by your past car tastes, you are a proud GM loyalist.
I deduce that you must feel like that GM fits your needs and expectations in what you like in a vehicle and especially since you've owned so many Camaros. That to me says "A True Enthusiast". I've had some experience with the Mustang, but it just seems like all the other Mustangs that are out there..........and they are everywhere.........very common. But the one you speak of.....not so common, but still (to me) a Ford! BUT...................this is a Brand New Generation Camaro. A New Dawn is here. It's fast like you desire. It's got a backseat for your kids. It's a Chevy. It's NEW. It is smoking HOT. And hey, look at the price. Take that 6-7 grand you are gonna save and DRIVE to Disneyland....or put back for the kids college tuition. It's a WIN-WIN for you my friend. And you will stay true to your roots Good Luck w/your decision.
