Anywhere to get a precut suntek kit for the Z? I have done a fair share of tint and would like to try to do it myself.

I would call the local dealer and see if they will sell it to you after they cut it and mail it to you. I know xpel has precut kits.

Just got an estimate for some Suntek Ultra. Complete detox and detail. PPF on front bumper, lower sides up to body line and behind the rear tires. $1100 plus tax. Does that sound about right for price?

If it includes the splitter, rockers, headlights, black DRL bezels, and in front of the rear tires, then yes that’s a decent price.

If it doesn’t, requote the job, because all of these areas take hits. Mirrors is a good idea too (bugs).

I would say it isn't a bad deal. It is always cheaper to PPF a car repainting is expensive.

My car is not a daily driver so I did not do the front bumper. I did the sides and backs of the mirrors.
I agree... but the front bumper is in another league as far as difficulty. It was a huge PITA. It took me almost a full day to get the front bumper on and about the same amount of time to do the fenders, rockers, rear wheel areas, beneath the trunk opening, etc...

If I were to do it again I might pay to have the front bumper done and do the rest myself.

I agree I guess I should have them clarify what on the front bumper. I assumed it would include everything you mentioned. And yes I forgot about the mirrors. They seemed like good peoples on the phone. Really helpful and great reviews 5 out of 5 stars. Arete Salon in Rochester NY

I would make sure you use an authorized dealer with your xpel or they won't warranty it if anything happens. Hope xpel's site and see if they are. I grew up in rochester (webster) cool area my rents still live in the area.

I would also recommend doing the A pillars and part of the roofline.

Has anyone done Xpel Stealth or similar satin / matte PPF from 3M or Suntek over the stock glossy paint? Wondering how it looks and if it gives a nice matte finish over the whole car.

I took a rock from a weed eater near where i work, hit the fender I had xpel on and ripped the film. no damage to the paint. Had multiple rocks kicked up onto mirrors, no damage to paint. had a brain fart and scraped another car avoiding a almost bad collision at about 20 mph, looked super deep, thought for sure it was going to need new paint. peeled it off and nothing.

one caveat I have learned is the laser measuring is misleading. they do not always laser measure the car for the templates. they will sometimes laser measure a hand cut film instead. i watched them do the first template for a model 3 at my installer which was based on hand cuts.
