Michelin Tires ZL1 camaro

Hey, this is mainly just for reference, I'm posting some pics of my new michelin pilot super sport tires on my factory rims. This is a ZL1, stock suspension, brakes, rims etc. 285/35zr20 on the front 315/35zr20 rear. They do look thicker to me compared to the Goodyears, but I think it is an illusion from the GY's little lip that sticks out on the side of the tire.

The last three pics are just to show that they don't stick out from the car. Well, the front ones kinda do, but those are factory size, so the GY's did that too.

One of my fellow club members has an SS with the same tires, but he lowered his, and his tires actually tuck into the wheel well a little bit, and he had to do 285/35zr20's all around and said the 315's wouldn't fit under his. Like I said though, mine is stock height, and I don't plan to change that so I went for the wider contact patch lol. Michelin doesn't make this tire in a 305 which is the stock size, but as you can see the 315's work just fine.

The PSS are nice tires. I've had them on my Z for a few months now and they're great.

yessir, a guy here in Louisiana did that for me. He sanded off the factory clear coat, and left the black, so the graphics are on top of the factory black, and then he put some high-end German based clear on it. It's supposed to be best in the industry, but you know some of that could be marketing. I'm sure that WD-41 would be better, except that stuff is like $200 an ounce last time I checked.

How does the car handle with these tires compared to the stock tires?

I'd say they are on par, maybe a little better as far as I can tell. I still haven't been to the track to give a true blue comparison, but as far as daily driving, I think they may even be a little better. The 315 rears are a larger contact patch and they are just as sticky as the goodyears, maybe a little more, so that's definitely a plus.

I need new tires.... not looking forward to that hit. Seems about 50-50... some go back with the G2s and the other half choose the pilot sports. Thanks for the review James.

not a problem, The GY's were good, but they only lasted 11000 miles for me. The pirellis lasted 22000 on my 2010ss, so I'm hoping to get somewhere in the area of 22k on the michelins. The GY's were least expensive, the Pirellis were most expensive, and Michelins only came in the 315, not 305 like the OEM, but that's not a problem for me. There's a lot of give and take, but I like the Michelins the best so far.

I am a little over 11K on the goodyears. The fronts have some left but the rears are shot!

I see that there is now an all season Ultra High Performance All-Season Pilot Sport A/S 3. (would not work on the zl1 285 is the biggest size)

I HAVE @ 11,000 ON THE GY'S AND AM PLANNING ON GETTING THE MICHELIN PSS IN 295/35-20 AND 315/35-20. TREADWEAR IS 300 VS THE GY 220 AND TRACTION AND TEMP ARE THE SAME AA AND A. I MIGHT HAVE ANOTHER 2K ON THE GY AS MINE IS AN AUTO SO NO PROLONGED BURN OUTS....SEEMSLIKE THE MICHELIN ARE GETTING THE MOST VOTES FOR REPLACEMENTTIRES.

theoretically, you could go with smaller tires, make a square 285/35-20 on a zl1, but I wouldn't do it. Wider tires make for better contact patches, wider rears mean better hook-up on a drag track, wider fronts make better handling on the road courses. I like the idea of the 295 fronts, let me know if it rubs any, and I may be doing that next time.

and Thanks
