May 2016 Camaro Sales

Chevy moved 5827 Camaros in May. That is the lowest May since the Camaro returned from Hiatus.

More cost, less incentives = less sales

Most people don't even know the 6 Gen are on a new platform with an increase in power.

To be honest, I RARELY see 6 Gens around and frankly I love it that way lol

So I don't care about the sales figure and it makes sense with the new platform w/ a price increase.

Poor 6th gen sales can mean no 7th gen. Or at least a very long wait.

It is a bit worrisome that sales haven't picked up yet.

I wouldn't worry until the 2017's are out!

With all the QUALITY issues with the 2016's, release of 1LE, ZL1's, and rumors of the Z, hopefully people are waiting for the different choices and the build quality to improve!

Possibly if sales are really that bad like 1k per month lol

98% of the people around me care about two things..

1. How the car looks..

2. Then how much does it cost

The other 2% actually knows that Chevy redesign the interior/exterior, has a new chassis and new motor.

They will cross shop with a Mustang, see the cheaper price and for some, a slightly better visibility.. they will gear towards the Mustang.

Just my 1SS with a few options is 40k.. not too many people can afford 40k and while a base GT with Performance Pack is $35k. They will go with the Stang.. unless of course, they care about performance and test drive the Camaro first

Either way, the more expensive a car is, the less it will sale in volume. Period. So I'm not at all shocked by the results for the 6th Gen.

I think the amount of people holding out for track specific Camaro's and high priced, halo ZXX cars are in the hundreds, not thousands.

The sales are what the sales are, there really is no other way to cut it. The turbo's, the convertibles and the SS are out there..the economy is sliding back again and people are tightening their wallets, so maybe the weaker economy is playing to the Mustang's favor.

Over the last few months when some of us questioned the slow sales, the excuses were, "wait until the T4 available," "wait until the convertible is available," wait until production is fully ramped up."

Now it's wait until the 2017s come out and that people are waiting for the 1LE, ZL1 and Z/28 and build quality to improve?

I wish you were right, but I'm afraid that most people are not buying ZL1 or 1LE. Most People buy the good old V6.
1LE is a very specific track niche car , and ZL1 is a high price low volume production.
Also car rentals take a big part of the numbers...and the Camaro is not there yet.

I do believe GM was expecting sales to be higher, like that of the 5th Gen and the Mustang. GM added (or is adding) another shift at LGR and LGR is suppose to average 14,500 Alpha units a month in 2016 - Q2, Q3, Q4. ATS/CTS/Camaro combined sales last month = 8,539.
