Wonderful ... Congratulations

So you met your wife when you were 17, then you married her at 21? This makes you 34 today? You are still a young man. If you reach 48 and you are still happily married then I would consider this a successful marriage.

I have been married 34 years. I think a larger problem these days is that people do NOT get married. At any rate, I also am on the board for a suicide prevention organization and I can say there are so many wrongs with this post's comparisons. :(

YouTube... The source of all authoritative knowledge. If it's on YouTube, it must be real... especially the robot voice ones (4th one down). That one really does speak for itself, literally. The last one, by the rapper, pretty much seals the deal: Women are the enemy!

With respect of course not all women are bad. However it seems that we have more problematic women today than 20 or 30 years ago. I remember as a young kid in the 80s I saw a lot of attractive slim women as cheerful, smiling and easy to converse with. Today, women are much more competitive, authoritative, aggressive and bossy, not to mention their obesity. On the other hand men perhaps work less and we are also obese. Have you seen TV sitcoms these days? Today's TV shows portray Men as lazy weak buffoons, even showing the wife as the boss of the family belittling the husband in front of the kids. To prove my point Dr. Kara admits this is true. Watch her Vid ...

Also, it's beyond me why most of you guys here are making me out as the bad guy. Why am I the bad guy when I'm simply trying to help other men not fall in to a bad situation? And this makes me the enemy?

Please .....

I'm a divorced woman. I left my ex due to his alcoholism and crack habit. When we separated, we split everything 50/50. We had 2 kids, I had them 100% of the time as they were not safe with him, he would drink and drive. He was to pay support, but I would have been thrilled if he had been able to continue to be a dad. That's what our girls needed. His addictions put him in the grave at 35.

I didn't cause his addictions and tried for years to help him. So am I an evil woman too?? So absurd to blame failed marriages on women alone.

I may be mistaken... but it feels as though you're pushing the issue rather strongly.. if it's something that you're into then great... but I doubt that many men get married with the intentions of having a divorce... Sure it's something that everyone needs to consider before marriage but outside of telling them to consider it, what else can you do? People do things everyday that will change the rest of their lives drastically and there's not alot me or you can say or do to stop it...

Gotta admit, that surely did prove your point. That woman in that YouTube video speaks for all women around the world because she is the leader of women.

I'm sorry if your wife left you... but it is often a two way street. Don't always look to place blame solely on the other. Do not seek to put women back into the kitchen with bare feet and subservient to the Lord and Master. There are always two sides to every story. You can bet, right now, that she is blaming you.

So let me get this straight, divorce = financial suicide?

It has nothing to do with the vast majority of Americans not understanding how to live within their means?
It has nothing to do with nearly half of the American families not having enough in their checking and savings account to cover 3 months of their monthly finances?
It has nothing to do with the average 401k balance having something like $75,000 in it?
It has nothing to do with a large number of the unemployed workforce having zero desirable job skills or education?
Get out of here with this crap.

And to mention Chris Benoit in your original post proves how asinine this thread actually is. Years and years of severe head trauma led to Chris Benoit's actions. Nothing else.

This is where you need to slap people with a copy of a Dave Ramsey book. When you have 6-12 months of bills in the bank there is very little that can mess with you.

Sounds like you and your daughters are better off without him.

Not refering to thequoted post specifically, but from what I have learned from divorces the old saying "there are two sides to every story" comes into play here.
