But since most people (including SUV owners) never do those things, that advantage is largely irrelevant. About the biggest argument for making a midsize SUV is to offer something to people who simply don't like the concept of a crossover and don't want something as big as a Tahoe. I'm not sure thats a very big group of people.
Yup, i know, that seems to be their thinking...But the majority didn't seem to think the colorado would sell, because who wants a small pickup? (ha, it's selling awesome, and here comes the Ford Ranger). You build a good product and it'll sell. Ford is bringing back the bronco, and it will sell. Dodge/Jeep seem to be gearing towards enthusiasts more and more, and they seem to be growing pretty well (haven't they outsold chevy and ford recently?). GMs choices smaller then a tahoe are for soccermoms, plain and simple. If they didn't care about enthusiasts at all, why the z28, why the SS, why the ZR1? They do care a little. Why not a midsized SUV that's cool? I guess we'll find out in 2018.

We really need a return of the Trailblazer/Envoy. Our Envoy with the 5.3 is a great vehicle. My wife would like another one just like it.

The best thing for GM to do if they want to build a true BOF midsize SUV is to badge it a GMC. It can command higher ATPs at lower volumes.

EPA has backed off the 54.5 MPG fleet wide CAFE standard.

Looks like no sporty entry model from GM any time soon. I know a caddy wouldn't be an entry model but the small caddy would have more than likely shown up as a chevy too.

Not surprised. It was overly ambitious to start with and the public hasn't gotten on board with hybrids and EVs in sufficient quantities to make it feasible.

Know what its being scaled back to? My guess would be 50 mpg, since its a nice round number but if they were concerned about that in the first place, the target would have been 55 mpg not 54.5.

Cadillac needs crossovers an awful lot more than a sub ATS sized sedan.

I'm not sure a solid new target has been established, but from what I understand the EPA basically is now saying the 54.5 MPG figure was just an estimate and not a hard goal.

Is GM clearing out their R&D centre via ebay?

Seems like LKQ is the one selling it, so someone's theory is an IVER with the 4.5L Duramax wrecked and was sent to scrap, but somehow the engine fell through the cracks and ended up here.

The question now is, does GM care enough to get this engine back? The 4.5L program is pretty much dead and buried by now.

This is the Chinese-spec D2XX Chevrolet Cruze. It launched last year.

Apparently it has already been canned in favor of the NA-spec D2XX Cruze.
