1. Disconnect negative battery terminal and wait ten minutes
2. Insert small flat end screwdriver in each small hole on the side of the steering wheel and depress the spring loaded clip one at a time. This will release the airbag.
3. Pull the airbag forward but do not waste time/effort disconnecting any of the electrical connectors. just move it slightly out of the way with the slack in the wires.
4. Pull "fifty" badge off the bottom of the wheel or "SS" or whatever you have. This is clipped on.
5. Pull off the one piece bezel that houses both sets of steering wheel buttons and just move slightly out of the way. This is clipped on
6. Disconnect tiny electrical connectors to each paddle and remove one torx screw on each side.
7. Install red paddles and everything else in reverse order.
8. 15 minutes total after waiting 10 minutes after disconnecting the negative terminal
Thanks as well. You’ve helped with the anxiety concerning this install. I’m going to be doing the red M6 ones also.

My '17 ZL1 is Red Hot Too!. Red seat belts, red seat accents and red paddles complete the interior in a tasteful way.

How does the plastic snap on piece read on the bottom of your '18 ZL1 1LE? Does it read "ZL1"? Mine says "fifty" but I'd rather see "ZL1"

Great write up, even after I watched a few videos but, you made it way easier. I bought the Yellow GM ones so this mod is coming too very soon.... So much to do I need more time....

Can't wait to see your after photos with yellow paddles!

To All: Be very careful with the connectors to the paddles, they are very delicate.

Great!. Your ZL1 is a '17 as well I assume.

Just read your profile, I see 2017 now.

I need that! Mine says Fifty in italics with the "i" in orange. Never liked that emblem on the fiftieth year cars and certainly don't like it on mine.

No way. Why spend all the money. I don’t even use them at all. I use the shifter.
