Almost a dead heat between the Camaro and Mustang. But the Camaro wins by a nose...it will be interesting this year.

You have to feel bad for the challenger, it just doesn't stand a chance! I mean, I like it but seriously, what it needs is to lose 300lbs, make 450 hp in R/T trim (~600 for SRT8), have a better steering wheel, upgraded rolls bars, better tires, better steering feel, less cheap interior plastics, smaller, lighter seats, and bigger better brakes, maybe the same brembo's as on the SS. There's the recipe, haha, never going to happen though!

What I don't get is why chevy doesn't advertise and recertify the SAE hp of the '13s with electric steering and the models with the NPP exhaust. It might spur a few sales. Heck I used to buy a new z28 every year in the '80s and a few improvements here and there would have me buying a new one.

Because they would:

1. Have to pay for the SAE recertification testing

2. It would amount to all of maybe 10-15 RWHP

Camaro outsells Mustang for 2012

http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2013/...ntcmp=features
Drag races are often won by the slimmest of margins, and the muscle car sales race was no different last year.
After blowing it away by over 18,000 units in 2011, the Chevrolet Camaro outsold the Ford Mustang by the slimmest of margins in 2012, with the final tally standing at 84,391 vs. 82,995.
The ‘Stang picked up sales thanks to a mild redesign and the addition of a 202 mph Shelby GT500 to the lineup, but it still wasn’t enough to topple the retro-futuristic fifth generation Camaro, which has been the top dog since returning for the 2010 model year.
As for the only other muscle machine on the market, the Dodge Challenger, well, it looks like there is a reason that drag races are between two cars. Dodge was only able to move 43,110 of them in 2012.

They can knock the dodge all they want but if they look at the numbers the Challengers have been steadily increasing since the beginning.

Interesting 1964 to present graph. Could the Mustang and F-150 alone have saved Ford from GM's fate?
