Ford's Turbocharged EcoBoost V6 will not be going in the Mustangs....

But GM has made major head way with the new 2010 Camaro... so why not have a Twin Turbo option for the V6 Camaro, to go along with the Supercharged option for the Z28/V8 Camaro?

What he said^ I think buyers of the V6 would go nuts over a TT V6 option..

Well this is cool!! Albeit kind of expected...

If used in the Camaro, it would slot real nice right in between the LT and SS models.

EXACTLY!

Assuming, of course, it has a "matching" ('tween LT and SS) price...

If "Life is all about choices", then this one would be "just fine, thank you!"

And, while they're at it, might as well give it the "Leno Look"...

Back to the MPG argument. Boosting a car absolutely kills the mileage and it increases the environmental toxicity of the car by a lot. The subarus are one of the "dirtiest" cars when it comes to being friendly to the earth. Off boost you can get a decent amount of MPG but since those cars aren't direct inj, they are 8:1 compression without the turbo. Which means you reaaaally can't do much "off boost". There is just no power.

Also boost hard to stay out of unless you are at plateau on the highway, a V6 will spool a huge turbo pretty damn quickly nevermind twins that are probably sequential. (One small and one mid sized for no lag like the BMW335)

So it will not get near the MPG that you experience now. In fact the v8 would probably average slightly better then a boosted 6. Again AVERAGE not coasting.

But the DI brings up an interesting point. I only have experience tuning subarus and standard fuel injected engines which have to have low compression to put big boost on. I would imagine the DI would allow you to boost more on it vs a non DI with 11.5:1 compression from the factory. But I really doubt you could safely go over 12psi without making a gernade out of your camaro lol

EPA Ratings...the name of the game...

NO bigass single turbo (that's "old school" for power-only)...the GN didn't have one, nor did the SyTy...and, with DI, you'll start with a higher static comp. ratio, with SIX cylinders NOT four and therefore more "basic" torque...which non-comp 4s lack TOTALLY... Even pulled back to 10:1, there's lots of room with modern electronic controls to get plenty of boost, when demanded...

As I stated above, "drive it like you stole it" and you'll pay...HARD! But so will you with any V8... That's NOT what happens in the "EPA booth"...

I assure you I can get 25 mpg with my mid-12s "old tech" '87 T-Type with a 200-R4...or, I can "show ya the tail lites from here to Timbuktu" and get 10...

This looks like great news for me. I'm probably about a year, maybe more, from getting my Camaro. Everyday, it's looking more and more like it will be a daily driver, so this would be fantastic.

Awesome idea!!

Too bad it seems like everything is now starting to point more and more towards the emissions side of things...

Then again, the 2011 Ford Mustang with the new 5.0 V8 just made 395 hp and 365 tq on Inside Line's video... at the wheels.

So, hopefully GM will continue to bring more power for the new Camaros...

It's called advancement and innovation. Embrace it.

Is Roush still in charge of prepping the press-fleet?!

Just think...it could be worse...3rd Gens and their "gold chains and mullets" replaced by Gen 5 Platinum Performance...

Actually, if you think about it, the "ultimate" 3rd Gen WAS a V6...with a TURBO!!! Hellooooo, '89 Pace Car!

See, "heritage" (no matter what guise it takes) is "progress"...

the LT1's are up to 17 years old. back then, v6's were probably pushing the same hp as v8's as 17 years prior to that as well.

Here we go again, the 285 HP in my '97 Z28, 3:23 gears A4, will spank the new 304 V6's bone stock. Frankly I've driven some 4th Gen SS's that I think can give the 5th gen ss's a good run for their money. Don't get me wrong the new ones are nice, but the best of the 4th gen's were pretty quick and not just for their place in time. I understand if yu pay 38k for a new sports car you want it to be quicker than an older previous version costing way less, but remember the faster you go, the more power it takes to make a difference. And then there is the whole issure of putting that HP to the ground.

It's the whole package, not just the HP.
