GM fined 35 million
Wow. Wonder if the bad publicity will hurt sales. The recall did not affect the Camaro, but there was a systemic failure to report a safety issue and, per the media, a climate that promoted sweeping the issue under the rug. Let's hear your comments/opinions.

It's going to sting for a while. It's best they take their medicine now and get it over with, then rebuild their rep from there. The big question now is about the lawsuits...
The road to recovery is never an easy one, otherwise everyone would bounce back. They'll get there. Just won't be overnight.

GM has a new CEO but she claimed she didnt know anything about the ignition issue with the Cobalts so they are all playing dumb. But in the end its gonna cost GM a TON of money...

And what I dont get it why GM keeps digging itself into these holes and terrible situations that could leave the company really really bankrupt this time. |

Unfortunately things like these happens all the time. I've seen it countless times within the mining industry too, where large companies hide known defects. In the beginning of each new rolling 12 months, Safety is priority #1 - All documentation, presentations, marketing material are refreshed with things like "Safety first", "We believe in safety" etc etc... At the end of the day, when you are gathered in that meeting room starting to discuss how many units are affected and what that may cost you... Money talks.

I see GM as head of all car US car company's. I don't think they'll have any worries of 35 m. Although it was dumb to wait on the recall notice.

They need to start putting people in jail. They play these number games because no one individually ever gets punished. GM just lawyers up and pays. That's the way it is with the entire industry.

This is just the beginning GM has a LONG road ahead of them with the lawsuits, fines, repair costs, ect… This could reach north of 2-5 Billion.

That's GM's fault, too. GM should provide unlimited fuel access and invincible tires.
