10 days 1000 miles

Picked up my new 2SS/45th on Friday, October 14th, then went on vacation and drove from Vegas to Los Angeles for 4 days. Managed to get 18.5mpg average. was able to fit 4 people in the car for a short while, before the complaining got to be to much :P Made some pretty good time on the trip and just had a blast enjoying the new ride!

Now my car is riddled with dead bugs and covered in dust and I won't be able to get her detailed, or pick up the things I would need to do it myself, until payday this Friday... :P

Anyone else put a large amount of miles on their car immediately after purchase?

A hundred miles a day is not a bunch of miles. My wife does more than that every day in her Jetta. ;-)

I bought a new 2012 45th 2SS vert and drove it home over 400 miles the day I bought it. Also averaged about 18.5 mpg on the interstate. In first week i now have over 900 miles on it and gas mileage improved somewhat on the next 2 tankfuls.

most people think that it is. In fact, the reason chevy was so adamant that the chevy volt could go 40 miles without any gas is because after they did research they estimated that about 90 percent (if I remember correctly) of people have a daily commute of 40 miles or less.

Picked mine up last Thursday afternoon and had about 700 miles on it as of yesterday. A drive from Cincinnati to Detroit yielded 26.3 MPG, which pleased me to no ends. Wife and two small kids did fine, a little bit of light cargo in the trunk. Top up, no A/C needed. My "lifetime average" according to OnStar is 23MPG.

Yes. 3,500 miles in the first month. Just rolled over 10,000, and I've only had her for 4 1/2 months. Can't stop driving her.

Considering I did over 2,000 for work last week, 1,000 doesn't seem that bad.

Hehe.. Well I guess 100 a day isn't to bad, but my normal daily work commute is about 12 miles, so it seemed like a lot to me.
