80 Z28 value

I'm selling my 2010 SS and a guy wants to trade his 1980 Z28 for it. It has a solid body with no rust, but dull paint job. clean interior. Fresh 383 stroker that was bored .060 over, and has less than 200 miles on it. Turbo 400 trans and a 2500 stall. It has the original rearend in it also.

He wants $8500 for it. I have been looking around and have found many of them priced in that range, but they have new paint. They don't have a new engine in it either. Is this a good price to take for it?

I did have but deleted the email. I'm supposed to go up there and look at it one of these days and I'll take some and post them.

Is there anything besides heating problems that cold arise from having it bored .060?

If it runs good and you like it, I say go for it.

I would look for a clean interior with no cracks in the dash, plastic molding in good condition, wiring under the dash not too cobbed up (there is always some splices in old cars), and rust. Interior pieces are expensive and body work is expensive. Pretty much everything drive train wise for that car can be found anywhere and in any color.

The second gen cars are getting a little more recognition lately and I think their popularity will continue to grow. Great thing about that car is you can drive the wheels off of it and it will pretty much keep its resale value as long as it is maintained well.

Most of them were turned into dirt-track racers around here. I bought 2-79's years ago for $900, pulled the running gear from the one and sold the body for close to what I paid for the 2 to a guy that turned it into a dirt track car. I didn't know the late second gens were commanding so much cash these days.

The 383- stroker combinations have been around for decades and .060 over is not too much for a small block. I mostly do the big blocks these days and have a 454 that is stroked and is bored .100 over and yes, I had the walls sonic-checked first.
