Yes but we assume they wanted over 600hp. That would be hard but 550ish may not be and would be all you need in a lighter 6th gen to make fast.

I'd like to agree I just don't know of they will carry that nameplate over to a cheaper version.

The z28 carbon ceramic brakes breaks are next level stuff, among the best in the world for any price. They more than make of for the price difference. Unfortunately they are not an option, but then they would cost more if they were.

Why are everone thinking a FI engine in a camaro must be an LT4?

It could be an LTsomethingelse just like the LS9/LSA..

Also.. Being that GM has stated they couldnt meet the c7 z06 horsepower goals in a naturally aspirated engine while meeting emmisions goals, we got a zr1 z06 lovechild instead, named after it's wicked mother, the z06.

Im thinking maybe GM are about to do the same thing to the camaro.. Combine the zl1 and z28. And do it with a blower like the vette.

SO, maybe they moved the 1le further up the ladder, and will release a N/A track monster that gains little weight and little horsepower(500?) yet easily outperforms the regular ss.

Just a thought..

Exactly, the target hp goal for the c6 z06 was obviously over 600hp and given that it was not possible.

Now, didn't tadge say that they had a non-AFM 6.2l "laying around" capable of making even more power than the LT1?

I, personally, would love a camaro in our near future to be NA, 530hp+ that is a track weapon and similarily priced to the GT350.

Z/28 ~ GT350

Z/28 "R" ~ GT350R

So would I. I would honestly like a Camaro very similar to what the 1LE was for the 5th gen, just with a power bump. 530hp with wider, sticker tires and some more chassis/suspension tuning would be sick and I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Something not quite as expensive or crazy as a ZL1, but not a complete track day special with optional radio and a/c like the Z28. Just like an SS with a little more.

So, what other things can we see that indicate a SC (LT4). IMO the airflow components all point to a motor that needs more cooling and that = IMO, an LT4 - no surprise there right

Whatever it is, it surely is a beast.
oh yea, i was just saying that just because you dont hear a whine doesnt mean its not a supercharged motor under there just because its not howling down the track

on a side note, that thing looks like its really moving down there, looks fast!

Agree but like this

1LE ~ GT350
Z/28 ~ GT350R

Mark Reuss spoke about moving performance down range from a performance standpoint. While referring to near ZL1 performance level at the SS range he also mentioned the Z/28. Near ZR1 performance is now attainable at Z06, ZL1 at SS...

Quote:
If you think about Z/28 and ZL1, SS -- think about the satisfaction that a ZL1 offers you today off of current Zeta. Think about that satisfaction moved down from an accessibility and model-range standpoint. Think about that. If you like the ZL1 today, you're going to love the SS tomorrow. Think about that from a philosophical standpoint.

1LE was already referred to as Z/28 Lite so this makes perfect sense from a sales model standpoint from GM and the team and we don't need to copy ford by putting an R on the end of our track rat model name because we have the / for that reason.
