2018 Grand Sport = 0 to 60 in 3.9 2018 SS 1LE = 4.1 Not sure about lap times, but the SS 1LE is pretty darn quick around a track. |

^ Braking and lateral grip are significantly better in the C7 GS. It's approaching diminishing returns for street driving though.

Does money matter? How long are you going to keep it? You will complain less when you get rid of the 1SS. Less money to start with and returns a higher percent of value at resale.
Around here you can get a new 2018 1SS for about 33k. How much can you loose at resale? At 33k that's a lot of bang for the buck. My funds are limited so I got to draw the line somewhere. I have had Camaro's and Vettes.......follow the advice of your realtor ...get the cheapest house in the neighborhood..... unless $$$$ is no issue |

Plan on keeping it for 10-20 years. I'm getting older and this will probably be my last "fun" car. When this car is done I'll be +75 years old I doubt I will blow money on a fun car then, probably blow the cash on a new hip. I could have gotten a base 4 cylinder, but wanted a V8. Once I got to that point I realized I would like leather seating, but didn't need all sorts of other gizmos, and superior handling and braking are a plus. 1LE seemed like the perfect "fun" car. Oh, and the realtor should have said, 'the cheapest house, in the nicest neighborhood'.... cheap house in bad neighbor hood is no good. |

Ended up with a Black 1SS 1LE with PDR and glowtie, the Nightfall didn't have PDR and only had the black bowties. Ended up with the car I wanted at the price I wanted, so I'm happy. The Nightfall with PDR is a quick seller, so deals on them are a little tougher. |

I live in the warzone that is known as PA. You'll do fine. I drove mine all winter on stock tires.

40 is not recommended for traction reasons. less than 20 is for cracking.

It was 45° last Saturday on my ride home from the dealer, rear tires were a little slick.

Well, two months old, 3000 miles.
First oil change with magnetic drain plug at 979 miles with ZL1addons lift pucks and rock guards installed. Diff fluid done at 2300 miles and my Elite Engineering catch can installed roadkill style. Quickjack scheduled for delivery Friday just in time for my second oil change and to address the "card in the spokes" sound from the right front. .....and still on the temp tags, well the second temp tag. Dealer had to send another one as they don't have my transfer registration back yet.

Agree 100% with that statement.....
I was in your shoes as this will probably be my last go on a weekend warrior toy type car, age included on that. When I found out the 1LE was coming in the 2SS package I was ready to pull the trigger. The problem was I knew I was going to add go fast goodies. As I started looking the ZL1 caught my eye, horsepower was there even if I didn't want to increase it later (haha), has a good street ride and a nice track package unless you're a track junkie then yes the 1LE may just be your ticket. Basically the car had just about everything I would want if I upgraded the 1LE with an extra bonus. The bottom end is stout enough to take that added power where your limited with the 1LE without going into the motor. It really depends on what you're looking to do after the purchase. So if money doesn't play a major factor in your decision I think hard on the Z. I don't regret getting the Z at all over the 1LE........ |
