Guys I just saw this post if anyone is looking at the dark stars a word of caution. I received the rims inspected and test fit in my garage the night before I had the tires mounted. I dropped the rims in the boxes along with the tires at the tire shop to get mounted up. When I returned to pick them up they were outside in the sunlight and they are BROWN. They look like dark chrome when they are in anything but direct bright sunlight. I will post some pictures its a real bummer having chocolate brown wheels. I purchased from Kents hot rod garage. I called Race Star and was told its the base coat showing thru and they are having some issues with the coater. I explained that nowhere in any of the brochures is the color brown mentioned. Dark Chrome Black Chrome yes Brown no way. They told me I had to seek a resolution thru Kents and I expressed how I thought it was kinda shitty to stick this on them. Mike at Kents was understanding I sent him pictures and he has promised to make the situation right for me to just give him the opportunity to do so that he will deal with Race Star. The wheels have been off the car and im waiting to hear back from him.

Mentioned this in another thread... but no answer.
What about for roll racing? DOT approved MT ET Bias Ply (40 roll mainly) Or ET Street R. I'm an M6 so my worry is wheel hop. Or Hoosier 315/35/17s (26 inches or so of tire instead of 28 like the other 2) If you were pushing around 630whp would you go 28 or 26 in a manual? Been debating for a week. Wheels are just sitting staring at me like "I'm getting cold buddy, need some meats"

John sorry to hear about the issues with you wheels.
I have the same dark star wheels as you. I have not notice the brown in the sunlight you are describing. You must got yours from a bad run of wheels. I purchased my through Kent's as well. My dealings with them have been positive. Hopefully they are able to take care of your problem. |

Just an update I have spoken to both Race Star and the vendor Kents I purchased them thru. Kents has ASSURED me my situation will be made right. He did offer to try and find a replacement set that is not as brown or I coukd wait until spring when Race Star is going to offer the 92 series in gloss black. I opted to wait its 15 degrees here in NY not a huge deal. I called Race Star today and confirmed gloss black is in the works and will indeed be in option in the spring. Kents has been great thus far I cant ask for much more from them.

On the latest racestar brochure I download. In the 17X9.5 I could only find either a 6.00 or 6.88 BS in both the polished and dark star. I couldn't find the 6.43 BS. I'm a tucker as well
