Goodbye Camaro, Hello Camaro

I got rear ended on Monday, and on Thursday the insurance company made the call to total my car.The collision shop and the insurance adjuster originally agreed on an estimate of $8,000 to repair it, but after taking the car apart the estimate shot up to $20,000.On one hand I’m happy they aren’t going to fix it because the car would never be right. On the other hand I’m really sad to see it go.I have looked and I can’t find a similar car anywhere. It took me a while to track down an RS convertible with a stick and the light color interior. It just makes me sick that I worked so hard to keep that car flawless and it a heartbeat it’s completely totaled. At least this may give me the opportunity to get into an SS.

I went through the same thing when I plowed into a deer at highway speed. At first, they said 11 grand but after digging into things, it was declared a total loss.

I ended up in my SS after this incident so chin up, you may be even happier at the end of this experience.

Yeah, at least there are good deals right now. I'm debating between using the 20% off a 2014 V6 or getting a certified used V8.

Op, buy your car back from them and fix it (my opinion). If you like it and know of a reliable trustworthy shop it can be repaired for alot less than 5k (by eyeballing it). Just my .02 because it honestly is a badass car and does not look that bad. I have tons and tons of exp in shops btw.

Sorry about the news. Sucks that your car was totalled because of the carelessness of someone else. Good luck in your search for your next Camaro. You have lots of options.

The pictures are deceiving. There are witness marks where the doors hit the quarter panels and then bowed out. The top mechanism would have been compressed by the same amount. Even if I could find a shop to repair it for much less I just would have too many concerns about long term issues with the top, driveline, and chassis. This is what the SUV that hit me looked like. That same amount of force was absorbed by the Camaro.

Wow! So sorry to hear that JR 1. Everyone is right, you have so many options now. If you still want to stay in a Camaro, there are so many choices out there.
You can go new and get 20% off or find an awesome deal on a very lightly used SSweet extremely low mileage (less then 5k) SS convert.
Good luck in your decision! Hope to see you on the road soon!

Wow! GM didn't just make these cars weigh like a brick they actually are made like one ! That Camaro rear pushed that truck whole front end in! Sorry to hear ! But as long as you're ok , you can have a Camaro any day! So start looking!

That was a hard hit, WOW but the Camaro held up pretty well considering. Probabaly best was its totalled, sad that was a beautiful car! When you find an SS you'll probably forget about your loss pretty quick! Good luck with your search.
