I have painted my ZL1 !!

Maybe some of you know the amt model of Camaro ZL1.

The pity is that they make them only in one color, white for the coupe and dark grey for the convertible.

So I decided to paint the conv to match my Z

Here are the different steps:

Funny, I was just thinking of doing the same thing. But my car is a 2015 but the only model is a 2010. My 1:1 is red rock but my 1:28 is dark red. I did put my hood spears on the model.

Looks good; but I have to admit I'm kind of bummed out.
I was expecting to see a wild paint job on an actual ZL1.

Tell us you did use dental floss and clear epoxy to make the hood "exposed carbon fiber."

Thank you guys for your nice comments

The black parts (hood and so on) were already black. I have just put tape/scotch to hide them. I have to say that the front bumper was a nightmare to tape.

I've found it on ebay some weeks ago.

If somebody wants to do the same, here a few hints to help:

To de-assemble the car, pull the front and back bumpers carefully, you will "break" the fixation inside. No worry, a bit of glue will fix it after. Then the main body can be easily removed from the chassis.

To remove the other pieces, a bit of dremel on the back, to separate them at each fixation point. I guess they "glue" / solder them together with something warm.

Unfortunately, I did not find a way to keep the Camaro and ZL1 emblems visible

As I said before, the most tricky part, the taping, be patient.
