LEOs: Anyone have a VLT meter?

Hoping someone has access to one of those devices that LEOs use to measure Visible Light Transmission of tinted windows. If you have one, could you possibly measure the side windows and post what the total light transmission is?

Here in Iowa anything less than 70% on the front windows is illegal. After a couple tickets with my last car, I want to stay legal if possible.

I use tint for heat rejection, I don't really care if it's light. I'm hoping that the factory tint lets through at least 77% so that a 90% tint will keep me at 70 or above.

Thanks!

Why don't you just have your tint shop do it for you?

Well this is going to vary from car to car - based on the type and percentage of tint used on the windows. Also, there is no factory tint on these cars. So your best bet it to go to a tint shop and determine your options to be compliant.

There is a factory tint on all windows. Roll it down a bit and you'll see the difference. Most Windows will say in the corner "70% transmission min." Or similar. But glass used on the same year same model should be very close to one another.

Hard to see in the pic, but it's there.
