Top Gear Cars
Catching up on my dvr and watching this episode where they have the resto modded Camaro, Mustang and Challenger. Who loans them these cars for them to beat the shit out? They are just destroying these cars with no care for anything. I wonder if they purchase these cars and then resell them after shooting or if they somehow convince people to loan them these cars.

They get loaned.
Here's a story on the 68, it's called Bad Penny: http://www.hotrod.com/feature_storie...e_project_car/

I'm sure all of the cars have insurance purchased by the show. Adam could only drive the GT40 about 10 feet one episode because it was so expensive.

they have no respect for cars on that show. this week they did their best to beat up an IROC-Z and a Grand National.

actually, I think that the GN was somewhat cared for other than the sumo push, but the belly flop onto the hood of the Z was totally uncalled for.

Cars are usually loaned and insurance is purchased to protect the owner's property. In some cases it's just a simple liability and other times it is an agreed upon amount.
I personally know of one case where a very valuable Trans Am race car was to be track tested against the modern car it inspired(look at my sig, there's a hint). The owner of the vintage vehicle insisted on a policy that insured him $200k for any damage greater than a rock chip, no questions asked. He got what he wanted.

i was rather amazed when Tanner pounded on the t-top and knocked it loose. really smart.
also great: Rutledge claiming the Camaro was 'the worst car Tanner's ever picked' so basically Rutledge is a fool and un-American. but the IROC did look pretty cool going around the track. how the hell did they find a 170hp IROC with 15 inch wheels. i think i've seen one of those in my life. |

The Eleanor replica on that episode sure did look a lot like the Mustang that drives around Tallahassee from time to time.
