Advice appreciated
I would like your thoughts on a hard decision. I have a 1972 Nova that I ordered and purchased new. It is factory red, black buckets, and even 8 track. It's has all new metal, 383 stroker, 12 bolt 3:73 posi. R700 4 automatic. I have put a lot of love into the car for the last 42 years. I have put 400 miles on it the last 10 years, have done the cruise in, car show, I have no interest in 1/4 mile time.
Thinking of selling it for a 2017 50 anniversity Camaro 2 SS convertable. I would just like some imputt on what you would do with this problem. No, I can't keep the Nova and have both. Thanks, Lowbubba |

Wait and see what the 6th gen looks like, you may not like it. But if you do and are ready for a change then go for it. It's got to be hard to part with a car you've had for 42 years

Why can't you keep both? If you put less than 40 miles a year on it, you must have a place to leave it the rest of the time.

I'm with this guy... I'd keep both. I had the unfortunate task of selling both of my show cars (made a deal with my wife) now I sorta regret selling, one of them for sure. |

Do you have kids? With a car that you bought new, you may want to keep it so you can hand it down to the next generation. Just an idea.
PS....Nice car! |

Your info under your avatar says you have a 2010 2SS? Assuming the 6th gen appeals to your liking once we finally see what it looks like and how it possibly performs, why not sell the 2010 and get the 2017? I'd much rather keep the nova, the fact that you bought it new and have kept it this long is pretty amazing! You've already done a lot of modifications to it, so it doesn't seem you're a "keep it original" kind of guy. What if you were to put a modern drive train in it? LS3? It may inspire you to drive it more?

I had a 2010 SS Camaro, unfortunately, I had to upgrade my old Yukon, and could not handle 2 car payments. The Nova is like family, drove it away from high school, went to college in it. The car is cramped, very warm, no a/c and no way to add it. I look at the convertibles and see more comfort, a/c in warm weather, able to go on short trips and drive it without waking the dead. I have about 2 years before I have to make a decision. I have learned to study and research something before doing it. Also, to ask people what their options are. Always be willing to learn.
Thanks for the replies so far, Lowbubba |
