2014 camaro V6 manual shift not smooth

Hey Everybody
l have just bought a new 2014 camaro V6/RS Manual a month ago .. out of my state i have been wanting this forever .. now i am very disappointed because it doesn't shift smooth .. sometimes grind at 3rd and make a click sound on 2nd and 1st gear ... i have been driving manual all my life, but not a brand new one .. Car has only 1100 miles and still on breaking in process .. so is it because its on break in period ? or some thing wrong with the Gear .. Please help :(

Lots of results in this thread.

I had the same problem with my brother's v6 the first time I drove it. The tranny was cold and I missed 2nd and heard that horrible grinding sound (I assume this is similar to what you're experiencing, it's just rough to shift even if you don't get that noise).

I haven't drove his car much since, but my SS has about 22k miles on it and I picked it up when it had about 12k on it. I never had too many issues unless the tranny was cold. I think it's generally just part of the break in process, is yours worse when the tranny hasn't gotten warm?

The V6 Camaro has the Aisin AY6 manual transmission and it is more prone to shift problems when cold. There have been a number of forum entries about shift problems with it.

Keep in mind that the V8 Camaros get a variant of the Tremec TR6060 transmission and it is completely different than the AY6. Not all advice for the TR6060 is applicable to the AY6.

I hear the click too on my wife's 2014 RS.. 2nd sometimes is hard to go in when I'm turning corners.. But other than that it's a solid manual.. I enjoy driving her car.. My SS is an auto.. But many other cars click in other gears besides reverse too

Change the transmission fluid to a high quality 75w90 oil. I recommend Redline. Buy it off amazon or something. It makes a world of difference.

Mine clicks or clunks a bit going into 2nd, but it is getting a little better. I'm at 2100 miles.

Thank you All .. i will let the dealership look at it Wednesday and go from there ... the car just hit 1500 miles and still have the problem .. i thought from break in process but its not doing any better .. not all the time but 60% does that .. its really weird .. and pissing me off .. saving all this time for this car that i like and spending 35000$ and not enjoy it what a shame ..
