The ZL1 with an LT4 and around 650hp should have no issue with a GT350R on a track.
The Z/28 can compete with the GT350 and some tweaks to the LT-1 could push it to 500-510hp. This NA "LT5" would embarrass a GT350 on the track and on the street. In this setup, which to me makes sense, the Z/28 would most likely not be faster than the GT350R on the track, but that would be what the ZL1 is for. |

If I was designing the next ZL1 I'd twin turbo the v8 and try to hit 708 HP, along with the typical handling/suspension/weight loss upgrades. Beat the challenger for HP, beat the mustang in track Z28 would be supercharged and 100% optimized for the track.

The Hellcat is heavy and fat and needs that extra power but doesn't handle for shit when you compare it to the z28 and especially the GT350 and forget the R package... it's just a high HP car... totally different kind of buyer... I couldn't see GM making the Camaro any more than the 650 from the LT4. It just doesn't make sense to me...

LT4 in the ZL1, that's all it really needs, it seems like. You could throw "improved brakes" in there if you'd like. Interior looks top-notch as it is, MRC will already be an option on the SS, so standard on the ZL1.
For the Z/28, some kind of NA V8 that they don't have yet (or that mysterious NA V8 that they didn't use for the Z06). It wouldn't need to be much more powerful than the LS7, since the car is already losing 200 lbs. I'm sure they'd take out more weight, add CC brakes, optional A/C / radio like last time. I don't know, it seems like the 6th gen is already a pretty awesome base car, they wouldn't need to change a whole lot for the ZL1 and Z/28. But they'll come up with something and blow us all away. Probably. |

I'd really like the Z/28 to be an obtainable car, something like 48-55k. The ZL1 will cost 63-68k with the LT4 as is.

Fellas I highly doubt that they will bring the Z/28 down in price. The Z/28 just set a high benchmark for itself and the next one should be an improvement over the last. The 1LE will fit your bill just fine if they add a few more track focused tid bits onto it.
