I got the email, too. I'll let you know how it works as I do it on my way to the ship.

I just completed the call and got the 3-year basic package for free. Mine is a 2011 that I bought in 2013.

Which kind of makes me wonder why they're pushing it hard enough for it to be free for that long . . . I am giving the powers-that-be credit for having enough business sense to not just be giving it away for no reason.

For me I like the auto start key fob function so when I leave work the car warm and ready to go , but other than that it's useless!

My guess is with the basic they use your data for your car and offer it to dealerships so they can make you offers to you for service. I.e. s there is some value in the data they collect.

They activate it for free for 3 years but I bet you will still have to buy the minutes for the phone to work. I used to use the navigation all the time when I first got the car but since I only drive it a thousand miles a year now it isn't worth it. Now I just use my I phone.

The phone was nice when I went up north and there were no sprint towers for my cell. Always got good service with the onstar phone in the car.

Yes I have it on my 2014 Cruze. I have access to the app, I can unlock the doors and start it, which is nice.

You can count on it. They're not just being nice, I guarantee!

Somehow, I have managed w/o OnStar for almost 3 years. Had it for the first 3 months... don't miss it a bit.

The basic function of OnStar is free for 5 years for me when I purchase my 2015 Camaro. 6 months free of full version. The basic function covers the app and starting of the car for 5 years. It's pretty awesome to start your car from your office chair on a snowy day 1000 feet away
