can somebody with knowledge tell me why the lambo door kit cost so much? $1000+ to make the door go up?

there are some cheaper than that from reputable companies, think in the $800 range, and you can always catch some for sale on here.
As to price, you have to factor in R&D, cost to manufactor etc. vs how many they are going to sell...... if you sink $50,000 into R&D, retool a line to manufacture it and pay for materials and personnel for all of that, fees etc. and you foresee selling 100 of them, in order to make a profit your going to need to sell each one for allot more than if you foresee selling 100,000 of the same item. its simple mathematics. Not saying that's the case or they spent that much, that's just an example, probably also some name gouging, but cant imagine much. Compare how much they are selling it for say a corvette and see if the price jumps. That would be a sign of name gouging Also its not as simple as just making the door go up, if it was there would be a bunch of garage engineer's on here making them. |

only 2 companies make a bolt on kit for the camaro. thats why there $1000. plus the research, materials, testing and cost to make each kit. WELL WORTH IT THOUGH

How hard are they to open? I've seen them on some cars have trouble opening or finding the right out angle before going up.

They aren't too hard to open after they have had some cycling time on them. When they are first installed, the shocks are definitely tough. With time, they become much more manageable, yet still stable. For ease of use though, I make sure I close them while I'm standing instead of when I have already sat down. Opening them from a closing position is too bad after it has some work-in time as said above.

its not hard at all. if you open them till they one go no more, thats when you pull them up. i only pull mine up when im outside the car and at shows. little easier then giving yourself the Popeye arms lifting it while being seated lol . plus they still open like normal doors .

U should be able to find a vdi kit for $1050 free shipping. Try eBay or Amazon.
