So ever since I bought my new Camaro RS two weeks ago I've been avoiding any and all dirt roads.

The bad thing is my mother lives on a dirt road and now I'm faced with the decision of visiting mom and getting the car all dirty. Last week I told her to meet me at the taco shop down the street from her house so we can have dinner together! lol

Anyone else have this issue or I'm I just over protective of the new Camaro?

Eh, not over protective. I can see if you just washed it up and you're out sporting around town with your shiny car. I wouldn't want to run it back a dusty road either. Being plain terrified of dirt; however, is a different story.

You will get more grit damage going down the highway in the rain. I live on a dirt road, my dirt road rules are simple:
1. keep it under 10 mph
2. keep the windows up.
3. keep your California Duster handy.

I have had that problem before...lol! It sucks getting that dirt and dust off everything afterwards......and dont get me started with cleaning after having to drive on a dirt road after it rained!!!

How long is mom's dirt road?
Park the camaro and walk on the dirt.

I live on a dirt road and it's not that bad. Just can't keep the car clean for longer than a day. Never received any damage.

My grandparents in Iowa live 20 miles out on gravel roads where it sounds like the bottom of the car is getting destroyed and pick up trucks fly by you in the other direction doing 60+mph!!

Even worse was visiting my sister in Pennsylvania, they had freshly poured 'Tar & Chip' roads there, looked like some home brewed concoction. Luckily I flew there and left the car at home.

Looking back on the cars I've owned they have all probably had more road damage done due to being on a highway than anything else.

#3 is a great way to ruin your paint. wiping dust off with no lubrication (water) is a sure way to put swirl marks in your clear coat.

When I was in high school, I recall this dude who bought a brand new Toyota pickup, slammed--- lowered--- by the dealer to within about two inches of the ground. Dude's girlfriend (my, oh, my... I recall that girl was FINE, too!) lived at the end of a quarter mile long dirt road in her daddy's farmhouse (yup, sure enough, the farmer's daughter... wonder if any travelling salesmen ever broke down...?!?). But, ol' boy couldn't get down that road any more, because of the ruts and the potholes inherent to dirt roads in the rural dairyland. He now had to park on the highway, and walk... and so did she. They because the laughingstock of the school. I vowed then and there that my car would never inhibit the way I live... sort of applies here, in a way. Remember, all cars can be washed, and while it's sometimes a P in the A, dirt's never permanent. Go visit your mom.

I live on a farm which is of course down a dirt road and yea you can't expect to keep the car perfectly clean driving down it, but nothing a quck rinse and dry won't take care of. Just take it easy and don't get Dukes of Hazzard crazy and you won't get any damage.

Causes no harm for light dust that a car collects sitting in the garage, but I agree it probably isn't a good idea after driving down a dirt road. This would be a good job for a bottle of waterless wash spray. Meguiars, Adams, and Mothers all make a product like that.
