The same team did the engineering on the XLR and C6. Also built by the same team in Bowling Green KY. If you look under the skin, you'll see the same hydroformed rails and chassis bits.

In the end it was more money for less HP and performance. Even the XLR-V, an awesome car, didn't cut it.

Here’s what the most reliable/credible sources of information have stated:
- The car WILL be a Corvette
- GM referred to the mid-engine car as “the next generation Corvette” at the dealer conference*
- The C8 will use an LT1, a 4.6L Twin-Turbo V8, a 5.4L Twin-Turbo V8, and the LT1 will eventually be replaced by a naturally aspirated DOHC V8 (Images 1, 2, 3, and 4)
- The only transmission will be a TREMEC DCT (C&D says an 8-speed DCT, who knows?) (Image 1)**
- There were 30,000 transmissions ordered by GM**
- The base price will follow the Corvette’s idea of “If you can afford the current generation, you can afford the next.”
- The C8.R GTLM car will be ready for the 2020 season***
the bit in bold has me very excited

I knew they were nearly identical below the skin, It's the skin that's ugly lol

I like the look, just not a Corvette though. End of the greatest American hotrod ever. Welcome to falling into line and copying from the same playbook as all the other surpercar players out there.

That's the direction Corvette has been going for the last decade.

Holding onto tradition just because it's tradition is a terrible idea when it comes to the performance of cars.

That's not a good thing? Corvette as a supercar for a fraction of the price? The C8 is going to be scary

I think as long as it stays affordable it will be a huge win.

What does worry me and others is that it might no longer be America's sports car and no longer affordable to the average joe

It still was a front engine sport car that was no mistaking corvette with anyother car on the planet. This will blend in with the rest of them. Im not the only one that feels this way either. Sorry just my feelings. I keep seeing these renderings and if that is what its going to be, I will never supoort it. Call it something else maybe, but its no longer a Vette.

Oh, and I dont need a history lesson on where the different model of Corrvette stylings came from. I know all the Stories. Every single generation would have never needed to have an emblem on them to know they were Corvettes. They better offer this with a big white windshield sticker that says Corvette so people will know what it is. Im sure it will be great performance wise. Well, a lot of cars are these days. This car will also be unattainable for most people making it even less of a Corvette. Corvettes alway cost more, but were still with in reach for many people. This will be a one percenter car. I really cant understand people cheering on what it happening to them these days. I guess they dont even see it. Lol

Im thinking maybe I need to change directions here. Instead of looking for a ZL1. I better find a C7 Z06 ,so I can have the last real Vette.
