You guys wonder why we have a strict no politics rule. Blanket statements with absolutely no researched back up and blatant disregard for any facts presented otherwise. On top of that thinking that the other side is always wrong and your side is always right. last warning. **NO politics** is clearly stated in the forum rules. I will be handing out infractions if it continues. |

If only Chevy would do the same with the first gen SS or Z28.

I know this sounds weird..but I am kidda liking the RS/SS idea being the V6 SC/TT.
of course the SS would still be LS3 and then the Z28 could be the DI V8

i don't fear the death of the V8. take a look at the development they've done in V6 engines, and look how far they're pushing them from horsepower and mileage. I don't think V8's have seen the end of their development days yet.
Moving to a lighter platform is great news to me, i'm dying to know what the "6th gen" is going to look like though, how much smaller will it visually appear, if any. and i fear the explosion that will occur in the photoshops thread when the first photos of it are released....

I see where your going. Maybe make the RS a supercharged V6 package and put a more efficient DI V8 in the SS.

Don't Like it? Suggit.

Nope. I want my V8. I want to keep at at least a little bit of the soul in this car, heritage is one of the Camaros biggest assets.

RS= appearance package. LT = V6 engine (on current Camaro). SS/RS on the gen 5 = An SS with the RS package.

Wow. Less than a year after launch of the 5th gen people are already looking for a 6th gen. How about 1 at a time and enjoy what gm has already done for us and leave the future for the future. I know it's humane to keep wanting more but you should keep it on the DL.

Lots of speculation from none other than Motor Trend... But they are right that Alpha is the future for RWD in NA and that means Camaro.
I wouldn't worry too much about the V8 option on any future generation Camaro. If the Mustang has a V8 and that's very likely then the Camaro will too.

I think we have to trust that GM will make the Gen 6 Camaro an even better car than the 5th Gen. All we can do is make our preferences known for a V8 and be thankful GM survived the financial crisis that bankrupted them. A lot can change in 4 years, and gas could be well over $4 a gallon forcing all auto manufacturers to make some even tougher decisions. If the Camaro looses the V8 for fuel economy reasons, then so be it. If they offer a twin turbo V6, then the V8 will likely be only in a higher end model (Z/28). I doubt GM is happy that the SS is diluting the CAFE ratings, when it is clear they expected more LS/LT models to be sold.

There will always be people who think a 400hp V8 is a "better" engine than a 500hp TT V6.
