This thread is not worthless, OK. It is doing the best it can. It is not it's Father.

The beauty is you only have to read about 3-4 posters to get even remotely to the truth. Thanks for helping set the record straight...you know who you are.

Camaro's been slated for the Alpha platform for some time now. The Alpha platform is also going to be underpinning the Cadillac ATS and the next-gen CTS. Let me remind all of you that the current-gen CTS has a V-series variant that held the title of "World's Fastest V8 Production Car" for some time. I would expect the next-gen CTS-V to follow the same formula.
I just wanted to make a correction here...I don't know if anyone else did.

The CTS-V had the title of "World's Fastest V8 Production sports sedan" not all around fastest V8 Production car. Because then you are saying it's faster then all the corvettes and stuff.

The CTS-V is a V8, not a V6...

And that's what happens when i read parts of the thread... =p

Sorry this was already covered, never mind!

The drive away price on a loaded 2SS right now is as much as a very nice one or 2 year old Corvette. I think they are as high as they can go. They only can increase from here along with Corvette increases. The spread can't tighten or more people will just buy Corvettes.
I just wanna add my .02 in here. My mom is an avid corvette lover. They have just announced on her forum the unofficial prep list of the next gen corvette. . .6-cylinder. Now of course, as stated here, there is no telling how much truth is to this. Of course it will be a supercharged corvette with just as much power if not more as it does now, but again, it won't be a corvette without the 8-cylinder. As of now they are offering the 8 as an option with the 6 coming standard.

Anywho, I'm right there with Number 3 on this. Nothing is official yet (and won't be for a while), and I could care less how many cylinders it has so long as it can burn rubber with the best of 'em

I hope not

Its sooo funny how people are already thinking a turbo v-6 is a bad idea.....you guys must be drunk!! If we see a new Camaro that is even just around 300lbs less with the "right turbo v-6" then im sorry but this would be by far a much better SS than the current ls3/l99.
Like i said 3500lbs with a turbo V-6 would be such a vast improvent over the current '10 SS, especially in ET's!!

I think we have all either forgetten about the buick v-6's of the 80's. Also, maybe people never REALLY new about them to begin with or forgetten how enjoyable they are to drive because of the HUGE torque produced that starts at a very low RPM!!

I agree with number 3.

But here's the reality here guys. We have all sat by idly while the big global warming drum has been pounding for years. CAFE standards are government standards, these are things that GM has to follow. It's not a choice for GM. So I dont understand all the anger expressed at GM's "direction" that they're heading.

If you love your V8 powered muscle cars, buy a 5th gen and keep it forever, because the more strict the world gets on vehicle emissions, the faster the death certificate for the V8 will be handed out.

Im sure there will be v8 cars available in the eco-friendly future for the insanely rich though!

GM just has to offset the V8s with more efficient vehicles, it won't be a problem. Anyway, in another 20-30 years electric motors will start taking over, and I am looking forward to having a monstrously powered electric sports car.

I think that the Corvette and the Camaro could be the only two cars with V8's available. Makes more sense to me.

Its funny how my car stock weighs almost 3500lbs, dyno'd ONLY 251 rwhp but ran 13.1 or 13.2 every single time!!! Its because that little v-6 is all torque.....with 382 rwtq BONE STOCK(paper filter etc)!!!! This is all with technology from the 70's LMAO!
Can you imagine a newer turbo v-6 application.......one word, SICK!!!

i mean come'on.......ask yourself, what was the fastest stock F-body made??

Two main reasons that will not happen, among other reasons like Insuarnce ETC.

#1........A V8 Camaro will always be at least 10k or MORE (like it is NOW) cheaper than a base Corvette. (Even the Z28 when it is available)

#2.......Besides the 10+K price difference. No back seat! Even if just for kids or short trips with adults.
