flowmaster drone

Just picked up a 2011 vert. It has a cat back Flowmaster system and the drone will melt your brain. Was going to try and add resonators before the mufflers, they say that will "fix" the problem. Anyone else tried this or have them and can comment on the sound?

That is the Flowmaster sound . It is a love it or hate it thing. If you hate it ,dump it and get another cat back . Trying to fix it is not worth the time . J pipes will kill all drone .

Personally I'd get a different exhaust. I'm over the whole "Flowmaster" sound at this point in life.

As far as Drone... you can knock it out entirely with a set of J-Pipes on most exhausts. (Flowmaster might not eliminate entirely... not sure). SOLO sells their exhausts with them. Corsa doesn't need J-Pipes.

I'm guessing the car has the Outlaw catback? Does the car have headers? High flow cats?

If you like the sound of the exhaust then look into a resonated X pipe; that will take care of it.

If you don't like the sound then meet other people with different exhaust setups and find one you do like.

Drone is that thing your wife complains about when your exhaust is too loud at cruising speeds.

Talk to a builder about your warranty. Technically if your car has problems they have to prove they were caused by your aftermarket upgrades for them to void your warranty. Having said that, prepare to have no warranty for the areas of the car you mod.

I have the flow masters axle back with stock reso's. No drone. There's a difference between drone and "noise". I've had loud exhaust before on an SRT8 and it had drone, but the drone is only low RPM's at cruising speeds. You can eliminate the drone by just being on it all the time.
