ZL1 1LE with A10
A few months ago I contacted GM about the 1LE and possibly getting a A10 version.
My need has to do with some damage to my left foot that makes manual shifting tough at times, though I can still do it. The response: "Please contact us again when you're ready for purchase. At this time there is no automatic transmission offered, but we have received considerable interest in offering this option in the 1LE." The two 1LE owners I've met are split on the topic. One would have certainly opted for the A10, while the other prefers the manual. Both think it should be available, as it would make the car more versatile for some drivers and certainly for those with an injury. Rob |

Especially seeing how many supercars only have automatics anymore, i really dont understand why they dont. I would perfer an auto ZL1 1LE at this stage in my life. Ive jammed enough gears. Don't care for it anymore.

The coming ZR1 with the option of an A8 is a good example of Chevy reacting to customer's desires and trends. Not everyone who'd like to own a track-oriented car has intentions of driving it on the street, and like you, not everyone is able to or wants to drive a manual car. As good as the A10 is, there's no reason to limit it to the ZL1. There'd be plenty of folks who'd have opted for the 1LE package if it were offered in an automatic.

Love that 1LE is manual only. They already offer an auto on the ZL1 anyway which is more than can be said of some other cars (GT350). And there is tons of auto-only stuff like the Charger Hellcat.

The bottom line:
1) Offering the 1LE with A10 will make the car more fun for some buyers. 2) Some folks have medical issues and should be able to enjoy a 1LE. 3) The A10 would BENEFIT the chassis on a road course for most drivers. The Charger Hellcat is a weak example as few 4 door cars go manual. The A10 is a gem, perhaps of the best transmission around. It's criminal not to pair it with a 1LE. But I have a feeling we'll see it soon. R. |

I agree why not offer the track package with both Trans. I sold my GT350 (my 1st mustang) because after left knee surgery driving a clutch car is out for me and I really liked the GT350 best sounding and N/A car I have owned. If they offered the A10 in a GT350 they would sell as would the 1LE. Give the guys that can't use a clutch have a choice too.

Bam! Exactly. And don't get me wrong. The manual is beautiful and fun. But I've got some sporadic pain in my left foot from nerve damage. I actually offered to send Chevy a letter from my doctor! Both hands on the wheel through the twisty mountain roads is also a pretty good idea and why auto's work great for many. Rob |

Shooter, I thought the 1LE was a BIG NO for you? Wouldn't the suspension rupture a spleen on your LA roads? Why are you worrying about it? Get an A10 ZL1 and drive it; screw adding the 1LE parts unless you have to have the look.

Though I doubt this would have swayed my mind from a Z/28, but I would have at least seriously considered a 1LE if it had an A10.

I already blew my wad on the 1LE (can't afford the depr loss on trade if the A10 becomes available), but if it had the A10 option, I probably would have gone with that.

Looking longingly at a 1LE as my next vehicle. If Ford throws a DCT in their next top level Mustang as rumored, and Chevy doesn't offer the A10 in the 1LE...Well, that'd be a shame but maybe I'll have my first Ford.
