Official - Z/28s w/Bad Valves or Dropped Valves

Seems to be alot of concerns regarding the LS7 head issue and our Z/28s. I would like this thread to be where we capture only those cars that have had one of the following;
1. Any failed factory installed LS7 engine.
2. Any dropped valve resulting in GM repair.
3. Any car that had heads replaced,
and the heads failed valve inspection.

Please provide info as to what led to the failure if known. If the failure mode is unknown, please state so.

Also, for the sake of keeping this on topic, only post info on known failed Z/28 LS7s, or Z/28 heads that failed valve inspection. I dont care about the Corvettes, or "maybe, might, could" assumptions on the Z/28 LS7 heads being suspect. Lets stick to facts, and real events, not 2nd or 3rd hand stories.

I had Katech install their stage 2 LS7 package on my z/28 and they said my valve guides were out of spec. I don't have the numbers though, they never gave them to me. Fyi, my car had 7,800 miles on it when they did the work.

Excellent info, thank you for sharing. I wonder if they kept record of the valve specs after they did your work.

That's funny considering they are the reason the original valve guides were out of spec.

my car #1019 2015 AGM ac/speakers was a GM buy back car. Had oiling issues. From the info i have the motor was fixed/replaced at 3500ish miles. I bought it with 3600 miles on it and had the heads done almost right away along with a few other things. Car now has 5200 miles on it with no issues.

The story...of Unscheduled High Speed Disassembly...

https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=419077

Nothing conclusive to say it was the Valve Issue and nothing to say it wasn't.

All I know is my Dealer and GM took care of me 100% with no hassle.

I'm not being snarky, asking honestly....Can you share why this is the case? My understanding was that Linamar was who produced the LS7 heads, and it was Linamar that had one of their machines set out of spec which polluted the pool of available heads. Thanks for anything you can share.
