Definitely worth it...to me! I heard the base system and it was so bad and the 7" screen looked horrible. I will admit my hearing is horrible as well, which makes the BOSE at $900 very worth it. It's definitely not better than the Infinity system in my Hyundai DD. While it's not the best, it's definitely better than the base system.

I’d bet the system works great for how much it weighs

I would say the bigger screen is worth the price of the Tech Package to me... the Bose system is just a bonus.

Has it gotten any better since this question was posed three years ago?

I think so. I've been very happy with the Bose upgrade in all of our 6th gens that we've owned.

100% Absolutely love it. Now is it the greatest sound system in the world, no. But after having it I couldn’t go with out it.

I'm not an audiophile and don't have the well trained ears of a musician, but I test drove one without and one with the Bose. The Bose sounded much better to my ear. If you enjoy tunes as part of your driving experience, get the Bose.

The Bose sounds a lot better because GM intentionally makes the “base” system sound so bad (primarily the speakers). Even then, the Bose speakers aren’t all that great either, but good enough for most people. The “base” system is easier and cheaper to upgrade.

I agree with Chutzpah, the Bose system is only good by GM standards, in absolute terms it's mediocre at best, I can only imagine how bad the base system is. My wife has a slightly older (2016) GM SUV in a higher trim with a different Bose system, now if you ever heard a turd sing, that's what it sounds like...
The Bose in my Camaro is miles better, but its low volume behavior is subpar, I have to crank it up to 45-50% to actually receive certain frequency subranges, but that is already too loud for me most of the time, and even then the sound isn't clean by any standards, it's just okay with nothing missing completely. Bass, midrange and treble all have to be tinkered with to get adequate sound out of it.
