GEN 6 RIDE COMFORT AND HANDLING

Question for those who traded up to a GEN6 SS from a GEN5 SS:
How would you compare/contrast the ride comfort and handling of the GEN6 on "Tour" mode with your previous GEN5 SS?

Important to the wife and I on longer drives. Considering trading and thanks for the info.

The ride does not compare.... Touring is somewhat plush. Sport and track are firmer but still way better than the Gen 5. I had a '12 2SS M6 vert. I now have a '16 2SS A8 vert with MRC.

I traded a 2011 2LT A6 Vert to 2016 2SS A8 MRC NPP Vert.

Ride Comfort: It feels about the same to me. My wife says that the new car is more comfortable.

Handling: The 2016 is in another league for handling over the Gen5.

One thing to note is that the interior in the Gen6 has a lot more visual distractions over the Gen5 which has a simpler interior.

Can you tell us more about the A10, does it shift as good as they say, how did you get it in a 2016, how much did it add to the base price?

Pretty sure he has an A8.

A10s won't be available until 2017.

I had 2012 Camaro 2SS before my current 2016 2SS and no comparison in the ride at all . This new Camaro with MRC is such a step above the previous generation . Rides so smooth even in track & sport mode . MRC makes a huge difference and is certainly a must

I like to give my two cents in, coming from a Tahoe this camaro blows it out of the water, and mine doesn't even have mrc I can't even imagine how they ride. My wife and I took a 2 hour trip Friday and she was impressed how this thing rides. This is one thing chevy did right.

Question about selectable drive modes: Does the car default to a particular mode upon start-up (Tour?) or does it stay in the last mode selected? For example if you turned it off while it was in track mode, will it start up in track mode?

Don't mean to hijack the thread but this doesn't seem to warrant starting a new thread for.

It stays in the last driving mode. If it was in Sport mode when you shut down the engine, it will start in Sport mode.

It will only stay in sport or tour on start up, weather and track will resort to tour.

+1 on the mag ride option.

My wife has a bad neck and would not ride in my Gen5 (could be a bad thing or a good thing depending on your perspective). I had done the usual suspension upgrades- rear subframe bushing inserts, swaybars, and swapped for the newer FE4 struts on ZL1 springs for a little lower ride. So I knew it was a bit "firmer" than stock.

Took a Gen6 for a test drive with the mag ride option on Sport. Drove it home and picked up the wife- she liked it just fine- in Sport!

Drove home over the same road in my old car and it was as if we were in a covered wagon, you know like the old West with wooden wheels, etc...

Ordered the 2017 SS as soon as they became available. Pick yourself up a 2016 with the mag option now and save big on the discounts and with a 0% interest rate. You'll both love it!

Thanks! That's great news. My BMW defaults to "comfort" mode, which I hate!
