Yep. And we know that the LT2 manifold on the the Camaro-LT1 fits under the current hood.
It may indeed "fit" but remember that in order to keep within current pedestrian safety/impact requirements, there needs to be a minimum of 20mm distance from the lowest part of the underside of the hood and the highest point on the top of the engine. Now I dont personally know the current distance of the LT1 to hood, or if the LT2 I take is taller than the LT1's. But. . . If it is and it causes there to be a regulatory issue and a manufacturing issue, then I can see it as being "not worth" the expense. Maybe someone here can chime in with measurements.

There is plenty of room under the Camaro hood. The LT1 intake height was short for the C7.

LT2 isn’t limited to the C7 hood height, so it may or may not fit under 6th Gen hood. I’ve seen several 6th gens with the LT2 intake installed. The one person whom I know best had to remove the hood liner because of contact issues, especially on road course, where things are likely to get jostled around more.

Got it. Curious…have you run into the same clearance issues with the LT2 intake that my friend ran into?

It would not surprise me if GM did upgrade the IM on the LT1 engine to be more like the LT2 intake. But there is so much more different about the LT2 engine that I seriously doubt GM has spent any time figuring out how to slip it under the 6th Gen hood. IM, CAI, TB improvements could easily be managed, but that wouldn’t make it an LT2.

I have the covers on as well and it doesn’t touch the hood on either car.

25-35hp is a pretty big deal in terms of performance. Imagine the Gt350R having 480hp instead of 515. Your passed experience is irrelevant to any car manufacturers, they have to compare their products to the competition in the present, not their past products.

Might be the case for you, but I'd be glad to have even 10hp more.

I think some people mentioned that it could create some issues with pedestrian safety, as the intake manifold has to be a certain distance away from the hood.

While GM doesn't advertise it to increase power, someone dynoed it on this forum and it shows that the car does gain like 20 BHP from it. If they are that desperate, they could just make all the new Camaro SS come standard with the GM CAI. It's just so much easier.
lol, just no.

Valid point to consider.

I was about to search more info on this but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t add anywhere near 20 crank hp as well.

Ah, for crying out loud, do I have to attach this link every time...

https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=556150

Yes, there is a 15~20 WHP/WTQ gain across the rev range, so 20 BHP gain is fair to say. Remember, there is a tune that comes with the intake, so the gain is sustainable. And no, the tune isn't for emission purposes, it's to correct the MAF readings as far as I understand.

It's also already 50-state legal, and you can already option a Camaro V8 to come from the factory with it installed. Again, there is already a solution for 20 BHP gain with a warranty.
