Thats shipping weight though. They've gotta be lighter than that otherwise the MRR replicas are lighter which wouldn't seem right.

Not surprised.

No OEM is ultra-committed to supplying the lightest possible wheel other than Ford using those crazy carbon fiber ones and maybe some more exotic cars. They have bean counters to consider so they probably chose the wheels based on a whole bunch of factors with weight being one of many. My belief on all these wheels you guys covet (1LE, Z28 and ZL1) is that GM probably paid 1/4 of what you would pay for them on the street. They're cool to you because they are on one of the special models but they are likely all put together by someone in the supply chain that doesn't care as much about saving you 4 pounds of rotating mass.

The factory 1LE wheels aren't terrible but you can certainly find lighter ones you just have to pay more.

Forgeline is taking orders for January production of their new Carbon fiber wheels.

To bad they're not recommended for track use... Really whats the point of them if they can't be used in anger on the track?

I never assumed the 1LE wheels would be super light. GM isn't gonna commit money to ultra light racing wheels. I would however be surprised if they weigh more than the MRR replicas since they're, supposedly, forged wheels.

Forged does automatically mean lightweight. I would say tthese are 24 or 25 lbs for front and 27 or 28 for the back.

thanks !! this is a great choice and still leaves plenty of money in the bank.
I mea you can pay another 2-4 grand to save 2.5 lb more by going full forged but at that point I personally would hit the gym loose 10lb my self and save those extra 2-4 grand for some more parts

I completely agree. Pretty useless product for the street. If I am insane enough to spend $4k/wheel, it's in an attempt to go faster, not just look cooler.

Don't any of you guys watch velocity channel? And see all the cars that bitchin rides and castro's unique rides and all those custom build shops are putting together? When I bought my forgelines last year, they were talking about making a carbon fiber wheel because they had such demand for it from Custom builders and show people. Since all forgeline wheels are custom-made to order, they have a little risk just offering it in the line.
