Cadillac / Camaro moving to New York ??
I just read that the Chevrolet CEO has given the go ahead to move the Cadillac headquarters to New York.
Since the Gen6 Camaro is supposed to be based on the Cadillac platform, what does this mean for the camaro? Is it still going to be built in Detroit? Will the Camaro's engineering group follow the Cadillac engineering crowd to New York? http://www.detroitnews.com/story/bus...york/16084371/ |

I don't think the corporate headquarters has anything to do with production.

This has nothing to do with the Camaro or the production of Cadillacs and Camaro in Lansing.

Its just Cadillac headquarters. Similar to what Ford did a number of years ago with Lincoln, they will be back sooner than later I suspect.

Cadillac engineering isn't leaving Detroit, their sales & marketing departments are. Nearly all R&D and engineering is done at the corporate level, not brand level. There is barely any 'Cadillac Engineering' to begin with (likewise with Chevrolet, GMC, and Buick). I think that even interior & exterior design are mostly done by the company, not the brand. Could be wrong on that part though. At any rate, Alpha isn't a 'Cadillac' platform, its a GM platform. Therefore, its not moving with Cadillac. And its not moving, then there is no impact on the Camaro.
What the brands primarily control is sales and marketing, and thats what is moving to New York.
