I've always been a Trans Am guy. Odds are if Pontiac was still around I'd have a new Trans Am right now instead of a Camaro. It's a damn shame they went down.

A successful job of failing was succeeded anyways. My viewpoint wasn't meant to be taken so serious. I just like Firebirds.

If anybody has ever tried, it was me. I once purchased a 1970 Bonneville, just for redneck fun. It leaked every fluid and some gasses, and wasn't worth saving, but it still ran, looked good (straight body, at first...) as long as I fed it oil and water and trans fluid every few miles.

In one night, I took the rear tires from nearly- new to metal- bands- making- sparks- on - the- road bald (due to slamming it into reverse from highway speeds a number of times... that 455 made it happen, and happen with glorious violence!), ripped all of the doors off (by stopping next to a telephone pole, opening the door, and backing up. Not as easy as it sounds, though, not like in the movies: Sometimes I had to batter the door 100 times before it ever fully came off), shortened the car by at least two feet by ramming it into stuff. The windows were scattered all over northern California. I did things to that car that would surely qualify me as an automopath.

But... that thing was still running. After a few days of gaining notoriety among my redneck peers, and cementing the belief among my elders that I was a ne'er- do- well, it was time to take it to the junkyard. I drove it there... didn't tow it. It was smoking, wheels were wobbling, no doors on it... but it was running. However, no junkyard wanted it... even for FREE. I took it to five or six different junkyards, trying to give them a FREE, running automobile... but all declined. I finally had to pay a junkyard $20 to take it from me.

But when I left ($20 poorer) that Bonneville was still running...

Rather than a Firebird, I'd like to see a retro SS Chevelle based on the '67 or '70 model years; drop in a COPO stroker crank and put some 396 emblems on the sides. Let the younger crowd have back seat room for kids with real muscle under the hood.

Yup, by far my favorite looking car I've owned was my Trans Am. Though, I haven't owned my Corvette yet They really are good looking. I still see mine driving around from time to time. Not the same shape I sold it in :(

That is a beautiful Trans Am. Blows away any 2nd generation Camaro.
Enjoy that baby.
