anyone notice this?
On the "14s not sure bout zl-1 but other models with halos the halo shuts off on one side when that blinker is on

Can confirm. I saw a '14 1LE I think and wondered why his headlight was burnt out so soon. I think audi's started using this feature first.

Yep, Audi does shut off both front and rear on side where directional is blinking.
Not great on very dark roads in the country.

I would imagine that it's done for safety reasons; to make the directional signal stand out more with out the distraction of the extra lights.

Exactly, Fbodfather posted about it once. With the increase in light output for the halos to now legally pass as DRLs (previous halos did not have enough light output to pass DRL regs), they also have to switch off so as to not overpower the turn indicator.

My 98 bravada did that. drl turned off with blinker on.

I did notice that the halos were brighter but didn't notice that they switch off when the turn signal was on. I do wonder how hard it would be to mod the current LED controlling the halos to the new brighter one.

Yes they do turn off with signal unless the head lights are on.
