Wheels only need to be about 4" larger than the rotors . . .

Depends on what you like and what you have done to the car!

Well the new corvette is stock with 18s on front 19s on Rear. And optional 19s front 20s rear. I would think they are moving away from 20's all around.

It makes me cringe to think that our cars have gotten so bloated that a 20 inch rim is necessary for the wheels to look proportional to the rest of the car. And to think my 17" rims on my 1994 Camaro is "right sized"

I sure hope they don't ruin the car and put 22" on it.
Most likely they will stay with 20" wheels. |

On another note.... IMO it's stupid that the upsized rim option is 21" for the Camaro's, really from a 20 to a 21....yeah buddy that really stands out.

Only plus-one is the common OE mfr upsize . . . don't forget that the OE's still have to assume that there are people who would go +1 but not +2 or +whatever the latest "look" demands.
So if they figure that enough more folks would go +1 than the difference in price to +2 would cover, +1 is what you get. Norm |

GM has a really bad habit of making all cars look like off-road conquerers. The 20s are the right fit for the Camaro currently. If we had stock 18s, the car would look so lifted that we'd be seeing Camaros rally racing.
Alpha is smaller, and I expect the wheel wells to be slightly smaller, too. I'd guess GM puts the next Camaro on 18s with 20s available through your dealer, much like the current 21s. Hopefully, the same bolt pattern is used so that people keeping their current Camaros can use the new rims if they want.

I got the 18" Heritage style wheels on my 2LS, and even those look too big to me. In my opinion, a car like the Camaro, or any muscle car, does not look good whatsoever in any which way with anything larger than 18" rims.
I don't know what you guys like about larger rims, they look horrible, disgusting, completely wrong on the Camaro, or any of the (modern) muscle/pony cars, to me. Are you guys trying to turn your Camaro into a ricer? I just don't get it... I mean no offense with this post, my mind just can't comprehend how anyone think the 20's and up look good. Unless there's a performance increase I don't know about(besides the speed rating), I'm just not getting it... |

That's one of the reasons so many people fell in love with the concept Camaro. 21s up front and 22s out back with thick, bold spokes... Compare that: With say.....this Cruze, which has some pretty sharp body lines, but much smaller wheels and more sheet-metal showing: Specifically...look at the back wheels. It's almost like comparing the way wheels look on an Indy racer to a shopping cart at the store.... That all said...I'll never drive anything with bigger wheels than 20". That is the absolute limit for me. EDIT: As I look at the Concept Camaro compared to my signature....I am amazed at how close they kept the two... |
