Long list of parts to be replaced on the estimate. Many are OEM, but there are a few aftermarket parts listed: front bumper center support, lower grille, and upper molding, the condenser, and the right fender.

The car was towed early this morning to the Chevy dealer around the corner from my house (where I want the work done). I'm headed over there around lunch time to talk to the collision shop manager. It's critical to me that all OEM parts are used. If I cannot get Geico to submit to that then I will ask the dealer to price match OEM parts. If that doesnt work, it'd be worth it to me to fork over the difference to make sure that this is done right.

Have you thought about what a major collision will do to the value of the car if/when you go to sell it? I would see if you can get compensated for the lost value.

Fantastic news! Happy that it turned out this way in the end. As a fellow Buffalonian, glad to see another Camaro will be (back) on the road.

While I completely agree with you, don't overlook that some "aftermarket" options may give you the chance to upgrade/change the outside look of the car. Not saying you should change it, but if you can get the parts for less or similar money, many times shops will work with you on it. So, if you were looking to say swap a grille, some ground effects, different front bumper, or maybe go with a different hood, now's possibly the chance to do so.. (especially since it can be paint matched)

With the collision being due to a deer, I don't think the car is going to qualify for that. Usually that only happens when it involves two vehicles.

Still, it never hurts to ask questions, so definitely inquire. Some policies do have exceptions or small print.

Update! Popped by the dealership today to see how things are going and talked to the tech working on my car. All suspension and frame components are well within spec and it was confirmed that the engine is good to go. She should look and ride like new when it’s all done. Feeling very good about the guy working on it, even though he told me he’s a Mustang guy…

All parts are on order and are OEM. Most has arrived already and it looks like nothing has a long-lead time or availability issue. Feeling pretty lucky. Hope it continues that way!

Seeing the damage my friends car had after a deer hit and looking at your photos, I had confidence/faith that yours would be repairable. I am glad you are on the road to recovery!

Great news! Right now your car looks just like mine after a, hm, mishap a few years ago And I have even more good news, the body shop took their sweet time, but they repaired mine so well it looks and drives better than stock, seriously, so it is definitely possible to turn this lemon into lemonade. Here's to hoping for a similar outcome for you

Just remind the technician that is working on your vehicle, just because he likes Ford doesn’t mean he gets to work slow (like his favourite mustang car) to get it done!

Best not to antagonize the person repairing your car.

Yes exactly no need to get into zinging comments with a person that felt the need to make a comment about his preference of vehicle over the OP's.
Now of course we don't know the whole context of the conversation, it could have been totally innocuous.
To the OP, happy your ride can be repaired and hope it all works out for you.
Good Luck.

Great news that your car will be fixed.

I hit a deer a bunch of years ago on a dark, barren road in the middle of the night. Called the police and sat down to wait. Within a few minutes a state trooper rolls up. I figure he must have been nearby. He gets out and shines his light on me and my buddy and says, "You guys just hanging out on the side of the road?" He just happened to be driving by and hadn't gotten the call yet. I tell him I hit a deer. He goes the front of the car, shines his light on the blood and fur, turns to me and says, "Yup, you sure did!" Glad he had a sense of humor and took care of us.
