The issue is never going to be fixed until GM fixes the TCM tune. Guys are fixing the shudder issue using the original TC and fluid by tuning out the TCC slip. Also turning off AFM helps. There is absolutely too much going on in the TCM...you have the converter locking almost every gear, AFM kicking in, then the TCM commands the TC to slip for AFM....all for 1mpg of increased fuel mileage. It's a bunch of horse shit.

This shudder is the only problem my Camaro has had. I took it into the dealer and they simply replaced the torque converter. My only fear is that it will eventually happen again.

Let's hope they get the bugs worked out of the new A10 joint project with Ford, as I was reading posts on the F150 forum and there are some very disappointed new F150 owners that are dealing with similar frustrations with this all new transmission. Gotta feel for them after dropping over 60K on a new truck and not being able to even drive it.
The A10 has a larger torque converter and lock-up (slip) clutch.

Haven't heard of the dreaded "shudder" in the A10.

The slip is there to soften instant solenoid shifts.

Have you experienced this tune?

What's the difference in driveline shock and driving experience?

If driveability and shock are acceptable, that's a great way to "fix" the shudder.

Not to mention cut down the fluid and circuit contamination from slipping what was a LOCK-UP clutch.

Yes I have experienced this tune...driving experience is 10x better. Addressing the TCC slip tables has nothing to do with making the trans shift harder. Mine does not shift hard at all anyway...just nice consistent shifts every gear and all you deal with is gear changes until 8th gear then the converter locks @ 60 mph. No more herky jerky BS with AFM kicking in and out or converter locking and unlocking in lower gears. The A8 is too busy doing stuff in-between gears that it should of never been programmed to do imo.

I think they’ve been through three versions of the converter. It appears GM is bandaiding the problem until they can get all the RWD vehicles switched over to the A10. The real problems occur when the drivetrain warranty runs out
Well I dunno if cylinder deactivation was part of the cause of the issue, but it definitely isn't the only reason. I have v4 mode disabled as of last month and still felt the shuddering pretty bad. They did the transmission flush and a new filter last week and I'm still feeling it just a bit although I think I'm just gonna buy an aftermarket converter at this point

I had AFM tuned out and the shudder was gone.

Prior to that if I manually shifted the car and kept the RPM's above around 2k when cruising there wasn't any shudder.

The problem is when it's dumping you into 8th gear going 45 and shutting off half the engine. They can polish this turd all day long, until they fix the tune on the trans it's never going to get better.

I had the same shudder problem with my 2016 SS A8. The trans also slipped on hard acceleration (cost me a race with a Mustang). The first service call they flushed the trans after I begged them to replace the converter so I would not have to come back. Shudder was noticeable the day I drove it home. Service writer told me I had to put 500 miles on it before they would look at it again (service manger later said only 200 miles needed). I drove it from South Florida to The Dragon in NC. Three-thousand miles later I took it back in. The service manager took a ride with me and said that seven letters have come from GM about this issue and flushing the trans was just putting a band aid on the problem. They replaced the converter and problem solved for now.

Not specific to cylinder deactivation from my experiences. I'll be going up a hill in V8 mode and it'll be shuddering still.

It's the TCC slip tables as I already mentioned. EFI tuning discovered this when HP tuners 3.7 beta was released. There is a thread ongoing about it. Some have been able to fix their shudder issues by zeroing out these slip tables.

I know it won't heal itself, this work around lowers my blood pressure. Planning to take it to the dealer soon for this issue.

Like other mentioned, mine is not in V4 mode when this happen. It's always in V8 with the transmission in 7th or 8th gear.

Where did you get the TSB?

I had the shudder at about 17K miles. Took it in to the dealership, had the 3X trans fluid flush done. Im now right around 20K miles. Issue has not recurred. Car shifts great now...big improvement in overall driving experience!
