The 6th gen + 30 hp V6 and 300 lbs less weight of the alpha chassis is a huge difference.

If you are buying a Camaro I think you are not only looking for performance but that muscle car rumble/feel. You just not going to get that in a 4 cylinder turbo engine. GM makes a lot of other 4 cylinder cars to chose from. All these 4 cylinder turbo engines remind me of the ricer cars.

I say it all depends on your budget my friend. If you can easily afford the V8 and still put save monthly for things such as rent, hobbies, and investment portfolios then do it and live a little.

Please remember to consider all costs, including gas and insurance which will both be more with the V8.

The V6 and I4 are you more economical choices that are still fun. V8 owners will hate, but your car is still faster and nicer than 60%+ of the cars on the road.

Guy's also like to think Chicks dig V8's when they don't know the difference between a V6 and my ZL1 1LE.

Considering th T4 is targetred for the import market, You’re no far off. None of the othe T4 offerings are in the same class (sonic? Spark? Cruze?). I’ve said it a million times. CAMARO V8 IS THE MINORITY MARKET. You bring an afodable reasonable performer to the import demographic and it’s a WIN. Not everyone cares about the V8 sound, feel, or expense (actually the majority don’t), regardless of how much the V8 zealots want to deny it. Most people want something with the good sport looks but an efficient platform underneath. Is V8 guys are a dying breed. But those entry level cars ensure we get the option to buy a V8. So more power to them, buy away and thank you very much V8 and T4 guys for doing so.

Waiting to take possession of a 4 cylinder next week. I was out shopping for a commuter car and was impressed by the power and fuel economy of the 4.

I tested the v8 and it was very impressive but if i was after a proper sports car I wouldn’t consider an 8 without a manual. I’ve commuted in a manual corvette and did NOT enjoy driving it in the horrible traffic.

Looking forward to commuting now in the I4 vert RS 2LT A8

I loaded up my I4 with options to the point that the base 1SS would be less expensive

the V8 is also a V4 (which is why I get an average of 24 mpg)

Active Fuel Management. Active Fuel Management (formerly known as displacement on demand (DoD)) is a trademarked name for the automobile variable displacement technology from General Motors. It allows a V6 or V8 engine to "turn off" half of the cylinders under light-load conditions to improve fuel economy.

Too bad we don't get that with a manual.
