is the V6 low end fast enough

I have a corvette and have been trying to buy a 50th 2SS no luck all gone, nothing in Canada new

so will I be happy with a V6 convertible new,

looking to use it when the weather is raining or going on cruises

not ever looking to track it or autocross it,

just wanting the acceleration to be better than the V6 mustang I drove

it will not compare to the V8 but how much slower on the bottom end from 0 to 100 mph

thoughts have 2 I am deciding on

a V6 convert new a V8 with 600 miles on used never registered

the V8 is 15 grand more money as I have to ship it across country also

your thoughts

my thoughts are it fully depends on which year Corvette you had. The LGX V6 Camaro is a fantastic Street Machine.

I owned a 2002 Camaro LS1 V8 with a 6-speed manual Hurst Transmission. my 2017 V6 6 speed manual compares all day long to that F body.

If you had a newer Corvette that was 400 horse or so then you're going to be disappointed with the six if you had something that had an LS1 in it you're good to go

I have driven my v6 6 speed 2016 base Camaro for 5000 miles since last May 15 and I love every mile. The car has enough grunt not matter what. The car has plenty of torque, and I have a 2015 base C7 7 speed manual to spoil me. The 2016 V6 Camaro is a fun car to drive with the manual, I believe the A8 should be fun also.

thanks I am looking at the auto, and want to do a smoke show without a brake stand.

in other words spin the factory tires to smoke the fenders without holding it back with the brakes

just wot or mashing the gas pedal.

the cruises are fine but the burnouts when we can are for fun and are important to me,

I understand it is not the v8 but not looking for top end and to be blunt after getting up to 90 or 100 in the corvette you are going fast enough

It is the acceleration I wish to have not the top end or insane speed

does that make sense. and thanks so far

What you will miss without a doubt from any recent push rod V8 is all that umatchable low end torque along with the sweet rumble that only such an engine generates to the ears and soul. The Overhead cam V6 in the Camaro is far superior to the Mustang 6 cylinder in HP and technology, but even the I-4 turbo motors in both cars produce more torque than the Camaro 3.6 V6 giving the turbo a snappier feel off the line. Also keep in mind that there are some ongoing issues with some Camaro A8 models along with cylinder deactivation issues in some of the V6 and V8 models equipped with A8. The 3.6 V6 in the Camaro was picked by Wards magazine editors as one of the ten best engines made last year and deservibly so, but just don't expect the torque and exhaust rumble that you have with the V8, NPP or not, or you will come away disappointed. A definite advantage to the V6 is it is a much better daily driver with all season tires no expensive performance tires and brakes no premium fuel requirement and generallly lower insurance premiums. Another thing you may want to consider is that GM fleets larger numbers of Camaro convertibles to rental company's which can tend to negatively affect used car values. My car is a 2017 1LT RS A8 V6 Vert that had an MSRP of over 37.8K new and a car like this is only pulling around 20K at auction on average right now with around 18K miles. I track the auction often and over 100 of these, most previous rentals, have gone through one of the USA's largest auto auctions in just the last month and the average selling price is declining at depressing rate. Just some info you can take for what it's worth in making your decision.

Ok, setting aside you are getting the V6, which can be fast, you are getting a convertible and the auto. Both of those add significant weight. I thought you wanted to go fast?

At least get the V6 1LE.

thanks for all the wonderful and most reasoned replies, gives me something to consider,

thought about getting one in the USA and importing it but the exchange rate at the banks is still 25 % and with import fees not saving much but still thinking there is a lot more selection in the USA not much in Montana but maybe Washington state,

thanks stig eh

i am quite happy with the performance of my slightly heavier 2015 V6,but if you want to do big smoky burnouts buy the V8.

What's "enough"?

People buy a V8 and want to modify it to get more,

People buy a V6 and want to modify it to get more,

They buy a 4 Cyl Miata and modify it to get more.

"Enough" is something in your head that you chase and never get enough.

If you knew what's enough instead of asking you'd do just a test drive and see if it has "enough"
