Dealer left my car 2 1/2 quarts low
Got an eerie feeling after picking up my car today... only drove it around the corner to work where I parked it, checked the oil and saw almost nothing on the stick. Immediately drove it back and they told me they would just take it back and top it off I said ABSOLUTELY NOT I had them write up a work order and sure enough it was about 2 1/2 quarts low. Anything to worry about? Didn't beat on it, drove it approximately a quarter mile that way.

No that little distance wont hurt it . Still had oil in it lubricating parts . By the way nice intuition .

Having 8 quarts of oil is overkill. You never need that much in a normal use situation.
Extended high RPM use of course it helps, cooling mostly and increases oil life. I'm not saying we should all run our oil low, just saying there's no way you damaged the engine.
