ordering headers...Kooks or ARH?

I give...I didn't want to put headers on the car, but I must because I'm sure the lack of them is killing the potential hp/torque. With a cam like I have, I should have upgraded from the start but didn't want the added hassle and expense. Cam only cars (with specs like mine) with headers are usually in the 570/490 range...Z/28 & Z06. My car is now 521/441. Kooks and ARH both appear to be great products and are priced similarily. What brand would you guys recommend?

I have ARH and really like them. I'm mildly cammed and I'm 450rwhp and 423rwtq, roughly 540hp at the crank.
Seems like most go either way, Kooks or ARH.

Did I see somewhere that now hooker headers are available for the ZL1's? I think they have been bought out by Holley but not for sure. I used to have hooker headers on every vehicle I owned until the mid 80's and finally stopped buying them. They were the best offered in those days but not sure about now. If you check and see about them let us know if they are. If they are not available I would go ARH myself.

It would be a matter of 1-7/8 primary tube and with or without cats. Which ever had the lowest price. I would be leaning toward ARH.

I have neither, so I can't speak for any of the things that you would use to make a decision. In fact the only reason I'm chiming in at all it because of the customer service I received from ARH. I was looking for short tube headers and they talked me out of it, since I wasn't willing to tune it would be a waste of money. I think it speaks volumes about a company when they are willing to give up a 1100$ sale because it wont really benefit the customer. When my warranty is up and I tune, the only place Ill go is ARH.

I had the kooks on my zl1 and I chose to go with the arh for my z28 build. They are a thing of beauty. Arh has out done themselves with these.

OK...it was nearly a coin flip decision, and I went with ARH. It was so no clear cut best answer to this one. I ordered 1 7/8" with no cats.

These cars love 1 7/8" headers and I know mine sounds like a beast, tamed but a beast!
