I was planning on getting a clear bra applied... what are your thoughts on the cquartz instead? I am worried about seeing the "line" on the bra and clarity over time. Or should I do both :P

I have a clear-bra on my current car. The WHOLE front end - so the entire hood as well. Can't see any lines. This has protected the car against highway-induced chips for me since 2012.

From my understanding, a clear-bra will protect against highway-induced chips. A paint coating (like cquartz) won't. Paint coating 'hardens' the surface to help the paint resist shallow scratches and swirls.

Someone correct me please if this is wrong.

I'm planing to get a clear-bra over the whole front end again. And some type of paint coating over the whole car.

As ddanj said you won't see a line if you do a full front end clear bra. That's what I'm going to do mine, front end clear bra, followed by a coating. You can actually apply cquartz on top of the clear bra.

Got it. Shops around me charge 500-1000 for the front (mirrors, fenders, and 8-12" hood) + more if I do the whole hood...which seems necessary with the vinyl. Is that in line with what you guys have been quoted?

Seems to depend on location -
When I lived in Virginia back in 2012, I got a clear-bra (whole front end) AND paint coating done for $1200.

Now I live in Massachusetts: for Clear-bra installs I've been quoted between $1500-2000 and for paint coating between $800-1000 (but the fancier the coating the higher the cost).

I agree with what the guys said above. Debating on what I want to do as far as having Xpel put on the new ZL1 when it arrives.

And the do-it-yourself CarPro paint protection I posted previously in pic cost me about $150 with a new pad for my buffer. Be prepared to take your time if you go this route. Took me about 6 hours to do my truck without the Cquartz.

It took my detailer approximately 8 hours on essentially a brand new car. He applied the CarPro polish first, that took the most time. On my ZL1 I'm gonna do clear bra first and then apply the coating on top.....I like the Xpel for its self healing properties...

What color did you go with, most everyone in this thread seems to have selected Garnet Red Tintcoat.

I checked with Chevy chat this morning - I'm at 3400, making progress!

I hope there are some incentives in September we will be able to use.
